LHR-DFW flight August next year - Aircraft 781?

Just got a seating change email... so is this set to be a brand new 787-10?

Obviously I won't be getting my hopes up this far out - but that would be exciting and bit of a bonus if it sticks!

Likely to stick if its already been loaded. Most of the A350 routes haven't been loaded yet!

And Seattle too!

Nice. Got an seat change alert for my Seattle bookings starting Jul 6. The 781 has a new First right? :)

A nice change since I was switched from CWS/A350 on my next trip to CW/B777.

New first?

I would imagine it'll have new first, yes ^ ;)

A newly manufactured First but the same seat as on the other 787s

Although not a totally new type for BA any chance of this 781 going onto MAD for a week or two ??! (Wishful thinking from me I feel!)

Thanks for the info. I’ve only done BA’s First product on the 747/777 so still looking forward to trying a different seat.

Still going to miss the 747 UD.

I doubt it as I don't think they did this when the -9 arrived

Well - I did take the 789 to MAD once but not sure that was for crew training or just in place of the usual 777 ?!

They didn't with the -9 and I would imagine they won't with the -10. Crew will already be trained on the 787. Not a new type like the 787-8, A380 and now A350-1000 were.

My August booking on BA48 is still showing as a 744, so no seat change alert yet! Is it a gradual process to load the new type?

Was about to search through hell when my reservation in April changed to a 781 and I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. Weirdly, the day before and after are still showing as a 777.

Maybe they load them in order of date? I received notice of the change for our early August flight To Seattle ( BA 49) yesterday.

i have not received any notification on our July outbound flight, but it was booked through Alaska Airlines. I checked in MMB and it is changed to the 781. More of the seats were already claimed, so I assume this means it was loaded into the schedule earlier than the August flight.

Do we have an idea of the better seats/a seating guide related to the 781 yet?

On past precedent, it's best to wait until BA do some trial runs of the new aircraft, typically on a route like MAD or FRA. Soon enough thereafter there will be copious reports from many FTers which will allow for quite some insight into the new aircraft. Which in theory will be quite soon, if timetable holds (aircraft delivery in January, Atlanta starts in Feburary). There are 6 x 787-10 due in 2020, and another 6 due in 2021-22.
