40 TPs Required For Silver - Suggestions

My wife and I each require 40 Tier Points to reach silver before our years end. The biggest problem is that we live close to Aberdeen and therefore our BA flights are restricted to LHR other than perhaps a BA codeshare on a Loganair flight to the islands. Any suggestions for a cheap return from ABZ that would net the 40 points required. Thanks.

Looks like it's LHR or else positioning to somewhere else, but that probably negates any cost-saving. Could you use Avios one-way and have a day/few days in London? Easier than doing something like AMS on KLM and then home via LHR to get the points.

Position by train/road/air to MAN then do a MAN/BLL to try the Sunair experience...not sure they do cheap on that route though....

Try one of the weekends at the end of January, go basic economy one way and Club the other ... whichever works out cheaper.

If I put in fly out and return on the 18th on ba.com it shows that it's 43 to fly out in the morning and the 19:30 flight is 116 in J

Ditto the 25th on BA.com and the app. Most of the Y flights those days are showing 43. The 19:30 back is 116 on both days.

Don't book as singles, start the booking as an economy return and select CE for the return leg.

Also bear in mind, if you are not heavy travellers where the 25% additional base Avios at Silver would offset the cost of this run, only one of you really needs to get it as I'm assuming from your parity in TPs you always travel together. There is little tangible benefit of 2 Silvers over 1 Silver 1 Bronze on most itineraries. Your wife may be glad for a day of peace too!

Yes, being retired we are no longer heavy travellers and usually only do 2 longhaul trips each year - 1 using a 2-4-1 to the west coast USA and the other to the far east or Australia. As both are in J there is no real need to go beyond bronze as we have lounge access. However, the cost of a minor tier point run when sitting on 560 TPs is probably worth it given that the cost of booking seats on 2 return longhauls per year can be saved. And yes she would be delighted to see the back of me for a day
