No, bacon
Karl Strauss in DTLA does a "Piggy Bank" Mac & Cheese - large elbow noodles, gorgonzola, gruyere, cheddar, and a crispy parmesan breadcrumb topping with beer-brined bacon, Black Forest ham, and Andouille sausage. It is superb! They also do half portions for those with a more delicate constitution

So when you order Mac & Cheese in the USA it's rarely macaroni in any number of restaurants and pop-ups.
Ignoring that, however, the bizarre squidgy 'cheese soup' concoction of BA's efforts is poor... Especially when there's often pretty good food coming out in First and Concorde.

I can’t remember if they stock the hot options but outside in the wild that is departures, there’s a little eatery called Pret A Manger, (in most branches) they do a lovely Mac n cheese with crispy prosciutto, roasted cauliflower and yes proper macaroni! Very good if you can you stomach the wilderness of T5.

Why is it disgusting? I would have thought it a tad too rich to feed to a baby.

That Penne and Cheese looks alright to me. Yesterday they had "chip shop croquettes" amongst other things. Wasn't convinced by them but they do mix it up a bit. The mini pies and samosas are great as is the salad bar.

Zero chance that a “chef” / microwave technician made that in the GF kitchen.
