LGW - BCN....I miss you!

What is the likelihood BA will reinstate this route for summer 2020 (and why did they go?) #antivueling

Thanks,
FCL

With eight Vueling flights a day, is there a demand ?

At one point with Monarch etc all flying this route the yields were absolute trash. Also why LCY was switched to Granada to try find a higher fare market.

I expect these days it's better, but with the high end demand catered for with the many Heathrow flights this one is probably a good fit for Vueling. Especially their A321 which are good people movers at peak times

IB don't fly anywhere from BCN except MAD. Some small domestic routes by are operated by Air Nostrum but BCN is Vueling/Level territory in IAG's eyes

I flew BA LGW-BCN earlier this year. One of the best crews I have had on the return leg.

I doubt it will return if Iím honest. I think they wanted to streamline the BCN service, Vueling at Gatwick and BA at Heathrow.

We must be hearing something soon though about next summer, the only new BA route so far is Antalya and itís almost December.

Unlikely to be BA mainline, given the VY frequencies.

If you make the hike to LHR, you are rewarded with it being a T3 departure.

I hope it stays at LHR T3 so I can continue to take advantage of the Qantas and Cathay lounges rather than BA's, which is nowhere near as good.

I miss it too, especially those £160 return business class fares they had last year (bookable as an Iberia codeshare, but operated by BA).

I'm a regular on this route and Gatwick is more convenient for me than Heathrow, but I find Vueling generally dismal and after a few bad experiences I won't use them again. I doubt they will bring back the BA services though, for the reasons stated above (a service from City Airport would also be nice, although I think this existed in the past but was also suspended).

It's the IAG way ;-)

Yes, and they have a quite extensive and well-timed schedule from LGW-BCN. However theyíre missing some of the things I get with BA - free seat selection, lounge access and tier points for example - and are not much cheaper. I was also using a flight pass on this route which avoided the summer price hikes quite nicely.
