No F to Tokyo November 2020?

Hey folks,

Just using my 241 and GUF2 vouchers and when booking my flights, there is no F available to and from Tokyo in November 2020? the planes are just 3 class configuration.

Anyone got any info on this? I would've assumed Tokyo would be a good place for F.

Thanks!

It would appear so

That seems a really odd route to withdraw F from. I could understand only one of the two having First but neither seems a weird choice.

Yeah, I am guessing they will update it and F will return in the coming months...maybe I am just hoping and not guessing? :)

Maybe they have given up trying to compete against JL.

I believe BA/JAL have a JV on Europe to Japan, so there isn't really competition between JAL and BA, sadly.

Could it be following the Olympics that Tokyo becomes an A350 route?

The Narita flight in November 2020 looks to be a 789 which has First. Seems like BA is still thinking about this route. I suspect they will offer F on at least one flight. If the price is right then BA F is an attractive option over JAL F.

Just rechecked and first is now available on LHR -> HND up until the 24th October on BA7.

The following days the plane type remains a 777 but no first available.

let’s see... maybe they’re slowing adding availability to purchase first class...

I touched on this when I was booking flights last month. Incredibly surprised if we don't see an update with F seats in future. Secretly, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the new Club Suites refresh will take place before the end of next year for the HND routes... 😅

If you objectively look at what JAL F and BA F - there isn’t a point for BA running it apart from awards. Nobody would pay that much to get that kind of treatment.

By the way, F is back on the 787

It’s gone again.... my flight got downgraded to CW... 😢

lcylocal Feb 16, 2020 4:07 am

I would sit tight and don’t accept the downgrade for now.

On the days I’ve looked at on ExpertFlyer BA5/6 is being operated by a 787-9 and BA7/8 by a 4-class 777.

However on both flights the First booking classes are not on sale and the First cabin is shown as part of Club World with all the seats blocked from selection.

I strongly suspect this won’t be the arrangement that actually flies most days of the Winter season and there will be further changes/updates.

If you were on a cash ticket I might have suggested having a go at getting moved onto JAL. I think the one report we have had on that was that it wasn’t successful despite the Joint Venture and the BA code shares on the JAL flight, but YMMV. However I think virtually zero chance of this on a redemption.

Hey thanks for the heads up.

Itried the JAL move too but as a booking with the Amex Voucher + GUF2 + Avios... I didn’t expect to own :).

the issue is I called them yesterday and I had 7 days to accept the changes from initial receipt of email, the guy on the phone double checked and said if I didn’t accept them I’d lose the booking....

but thanks for the heads up, I agree with you and will keep my eyes peeled.
