I had a colleague bring back Durian flavoured sweets from KUT

They did not smell but it was quite funny seeing people come into our office and help themselves from the basket full these delights that were on offer...

During durian season we used to have a series of HKG-CNX-HKG night freighter flights to bring back 100 tonnes of durian.

That trip was always given as a punishment to whoever has naughty boys of the week.

Serious question, if these fruits smell that bad why would anyone want to grow and eat them?

They stink, foul smelling but the taste of the flesh is rather pleasant and the smell not as pungent.

It is an aquirred taste, and they taste quite good.
My wife, however, can't get past the smell to get close enough to even try them, so it is a full sensory thing.

Pretty funny to watch peoples faces in chinatown (Singapore) when an obviously white (but tan) guy chows down.

I like durian, but I have never thought to take it on a plane.

With the obvious place to buy in the UK being Chinatown, my wife has cleared a carriage in a train out of London despite the durian being in two sealed bags. Somehow the smell still seaps out... Great for getting a seat! I wonder if we could create some self downgraders doing the same on a plane?
