Upgrade interruptus
Hi all,
Checking my seats for an upcoming LHR-MAD next weekend (Club out, Econ back) I was offered an upgrade on the return for £99 - a lovely big ad on the top of my exec club page. Having decided that this was a reasonable cost for 2 hours I clicked through all, even the credit card payment verification page - and then was abruptly informed that this booking could not be completed and I should phone BA.
Is this one of those time-wasting IT issues and BA no longer wants to offer it to me, or should I phone and I would still get it - the offer still comes up.
Thanks for any response on this most mundane of questions...

I've had that issue a few times recently in the App - worked on the website though, although I found I could only process it on the website if I put in the details of my credit card as a new card, rather than using a saved one - which, given BA's history with credit card data, can't be a good thing

If you want the upgrade offer (at this price), do something! Don't wait. Call BA, try again, try the website, etc. If you just sit there, you will be sitting in coach.

It's definitely worth looking on the main website even if the app upgrade fails. Sometimes the offer no longer exists, but quite often it just fails to work properly and the error message isn't really very informative.
Yesterday I was offered an upgrade impossibilis on the app: Not sure how I could upgrade from Row 1...

I've had that recently, failed twice in the app, tried the website and it told me certain types of cards couldn't be used for this transaction (my BAPP, of all cards, and the one I had used for the original booking). Tried with another Amex and it went through.

Yes I've had one from MAN for 49 pounds in a couple of weeks time. Forgot to report in the POUG thread!

Psychologically, £49 is (for me) significantly more tempting than £59 for a guaranteed bit of elbow space and 30 extra TPs. It feels like far more than just a £10 discount.

I had this exact same thing yesterday evening, LHR - GLA for this evening's BA1492. And, in the past these offers have been £79, this time it was "only " £59, but cheaper is cheaper.
No luck on the app, but all sorted on my laptop and Chrome.
As a Bronze, I was looking forward to a rare visit to the North lounge, but no HEX this afternoon put paid to that, 55 mins to LHR via the Piccadilly line ! I had a quick 15 min visit for a glass of wine and some olives before boarding.
