Thumbs up Another LAX datapoint

I was on the BA26Late from LAX last night in CW. I received an email 24 hours before the flight inviting me to call the Special Services duty cell phone number when I was 10 minutes out from the airport so they could print my boarding pass and luggage tag. I called and was told one of the team would be looking out for me which they were and I was taken to one of the unused desks to deal with the formalities. Once this was complete I was escorted through security and taken to the Qantas First Lounge and told someone would pick me up with 3 other GGL's just before boarding and also asked if I would like the car at LHR, which I said yes to. I went to do some shopping so walked down to the gate and joined the other pax as they were being escorted down from the lounge. We were then pre-boarded a few minutes before Group 1 totally eliminating the A380 boarding scrum.

At LHR, as I got off the plane, there was a lady with an iPad with all of the GGL names on and we were taken in the Jag back to T5A.

All in all, an excellent service and if this is now a regular occurrence from LAX, it's a major step up. Well done BA and especially to the fantastic LAX Special Services/Concorde team!

Same for me when I flew back from BOM last month.

Walked from B gates to Arrivals instead! lol

Best and most useful thing that's happened in the last few months is that there's been someone waiting to take you to the front of the line for immigration on arrival jfk. Definite good enhancement . Hope it continues for lowly ggl like us, but I think it's just they had nothing else to do. Time will tell.

Oh well maybe one day. Have still not been collected from the remote stands where my weekly domestic arrival tends to park. Maybe JFK and LAX are seen as more glamorous than MAN

I (+1) (GGL+Gold) had the same experience on BA26NotSoLate (i.e. 269) in F a couple weeks ago with the same email and offer. Accepted the car transfer offer and we were picked up in a Range Rover. Great service.

Zero GGL acknowledgement for today's long haul flight (out of LHR T5). No special services contact. Boarding pass says Gold rather than GGL too. Hmm.

It’s resource dependent so I would not expect it all the time!! Also, where were you flying from?

I had a note from the Concorde Team that pinged up on the boarding pass scan when heading through the First Wing this morning. They just wanted to say hello but did seem quite busy.

I've had the car coming back from SF - a one-off for the time being as the agent driving the vehicle explained that they are focusing for launch primarily on JFK, LAX and select Asia destinations for the car, simply because of numbers I suppose. I've been pre-boarded at outstations a few times now, never at LHR, even on a JFK. I just think it's too busy there to have the pre-boarding done by CCR Team/Spec Svcs as staffed now. Definitely not something to be expected on any short haul, if it happens it's a very nice bonus. Car from C gates was good, the pre-board experiences have been nice as a jump-the-scrum thing. Not life changing, if I could expect pre-boarding reliably then I would probably adjust my behaviour in terms of leaving lounges and all that; probably also more comfortable with sub-90 min connections off of long hauls. For now I would not plan on it.

On my day flight from JFK on Monday there were 4 cars with three people (plus the driver) in each. Nice zippy ride in a Jaguar.

If it had been this week, they'd have picked you up in an ambulance with the driver wearing a hazmat suit.

Or not met at all! As they are busy with passengers from other flights 😀😀
I should have been flying to PVG this week but obviously not now.

So, after a truly excellent recent experience with the Concorde Team at LAX, I regret to inform you that it still seems to be a bit of a mess at JFK.

Just checked in at T7; given a boarding pass and directed to fast track security. Zero mention was made of my status (GGL / CCR), which frankly is fine to me.

However as no mention was made of the great T5 car service, I queried whether there was a car transfer available at LHR. It was explained to me by the BA First check in staff that there was not - as the airplane would dock directly at a gate stand with a jetty. I reworded my question to ensure there was no confusion, but the response was repeated.

Im now faced with a 20-30 mins wait for security. I have previously seen passengers escorted through fast track to the front (this used to happen for me as a GGL at the old slope) but assume this is just for F passengers now? I asked a separate member of the BA check in staff whether GGL members get any kind of accelerated access, but was politely told no.

I do appreciate that BAs hands are considerably tied at JFK due to circumstances beyond their control, but in this instance, the inconsistent delivery of the Concorde Team service can surely be looked at? Is it a real product or an occasional one?

Oh and I had the pleasure of receiving the new BA app on my phone. My own XD teams would have been fired if they had created something like that.

Edit - quick update to say that on landing the car service was provided to some passengers in CW. Maybe BA just arent that into me

Been offered a car on the all three inbound flights for the US this year (2 JFK and one lax) although I think one was because I bumped into the guy heading up the Concorde team. However, been sitting at a table in the Concorde lounge at T5 for 30 mins now and not even a coffee on offer but lots of chatter from the kitchen.
One hand giveth, the other taketh away.

Got to be a new record - after an hour in sitting at the restaurant table being ignored I cracked and went to persuade a reluctant waiter that I really did want a coffee.
