First Class Meridian Headphones

Do all A380 on the Chicago route carry the Meridian headphones in First? I normally take my Bose NC but they do take up a chunk of room in my man bag 🤓 so it would be good to not need them...

I'm not sure of the answer, but there have been a lot of reports of these headphones being uncomfortable after a couple of hours.

Yes they are on all flights with a First cabin.

I’ll take my Bose then, know where I am with them!

The only complaining I have heard is on here.

I didn't find them uncomfortable at all - they are a huge improvement over the old ones.

Agreed, but that's a pretty low bar! I've found the new ones to be less comfortable and worse sound quality than my Sony headphones.

Perhaps it depends on the size of your head??

Do they still break quite often? That was another report from here.

They're significantly less good at cancelling ambient noise than Bose's

That's because Bose is the leader in noise cancelling technology. However it is also at the expense at some of the sound quality. It depends on your priorities.

Flying Doctor Oct 23, 2019 5:49 am

Yes - Bose is the best for noise cancellation.
Meridian are the world leaders at digital sound handling and reproduction (speakers etc). So you get great sound production but in the air the Bose for me win out because the edge Meridian have in terms of sound quality is lost as Bose cancel the ambient noise better.
FD.

I have never had any break.

Arguably Sony are better than Bose now. Sony get much better reviews and I love my WH 1000XM3s.

Definitely worth taking your own versus the BA provision IMHO.
