Santiago de Chile unrest - rebooking allowed on BA and IB

A rebooking policy has been opened for passengers going to Santiago de Chile SCL between now and 24 October. Flights are expected to operate as normal, however passengers can rebook their flights up to and including 30 October if they wish to avoid the current outbreak of civil unrest.

Iberia and BA are both offering this policy.

I note this has barely registered on the news at all in the UK. I heard about it via a Chilean friend's instagram. Understandable lack of coverage here I suppose, what with B..., plus the more proximate unrest in Catalonia, but still might have expected to see it mentioned somewhere. Hope it doesn't last too long.

Hi,

To be fair the BBC website is covering it for example

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-50119649

and a story was on the bbc news front page at the weekend.

Regards

I was expecting BA to offer the same for pax on HKG flights, but it would be difficult to put a time frame on it.

It's on the Latam page currently but I doubt that's one many UK readers ordinarily visit.

I didn't notice it on the front page this weekend but may have missed it.

To give the BBC their due, there have been at least 3 separate stories on the main front page of the BBC News app in the last several days. I am seeing a Reality Check piece atm “Is inequality becoming worse in Chile”.

South America wouldn't be South America without a little political unrest.

Update 3 to the customer advisory, passengers travelling from now and until 30 October can ask to be rebooked to services until and including 3 November.
