lax-bos(1.5hour layover)-lhr one booking still need to pick up and recheck in baggage
hello.
I just called BA and got some confusing answers.
My first flight is from LAX-BOS(AAr flight) and BOS-LHR(BA flight)
I will be booking them all in one ticket(not a separate ticket)
however I only have 1.5 hour to change the terminal from B(AA terminal) to E(BA terminal) so I only worried about changing the terminal but rep said I also have to claim my baggage in Boston and recheck in.
I don't think this will be possible even with tsa-pre entry.
Did BA rep misinform me or is he right because I thought as long as it's not a separate booking, through check in baggage will be possible.
Thank you.

Perhaps the rep got confused because you would the other direction, but for the flights you are specifically asking about you don’t have to collect your bags.

Some phone agents just make up stuff if they don't know and many of them don't travel or don't ever go abroad. Regardless of what an agent might have said, it's not binding on your day of departure.

Historically, AA will not short-check bags where there is a connection of less than 12 hours, so you could not claim your bag at BOS even if you wanted to.
As noted, for the opposite direction --LHR-BOS-LAX -- you would have to claim your checked baggage and present it for Customs inspection at BOS; but your bag would still be checked through to LAX: after Customs inspection at BOS, you would simply drop the bag at the AA re-check desk just past Customs, instead of having to drag it over to the AA counter.

The airline that will be checking your bag in at LAX is the one to answer your question.

Ive made the AA to BA connection at Boston (although from JFK not LAX) and my bags were interlined, it wa a pretty tight connection thanks to a delay taking off at JFK, But I was off the plane as fast as I possibly could and half walked half ran through the terminals (Dont take the bus). There are other threads available to give you the route to take on foot. You still need to go through security again at the BA terminal. I was last to board, slightly out of breath and having worked up a good sweat. But my bag had beat me to the plane and they were standing by to offload it again if I hadn't made it.

This issue has nothing to do with BA in the first place and the phone agent should simply have directed OP to AA and not even attempted an answer.
Indeed, on a single ticket, OP's bags will be checked by AA to LHR and he will not see them at BOS.
That is a tight connection because of the terminal change requiring you to clear security again. But, if you are on schedule, there should be no problem making it.
