Late break for Oct half term; ideas & ops

Me and my wife are off after Fri 11th, back at work Mon 21st, and looking for a break somewhere, ideally NAM but elsewhere is good. I've looked around the BA Hols site for a few combos but struggling to find a good deal or option.

I've go 21.6k Avios & 30k AMEX Membership rewards, but potentially can get almost-unlimited Avios within reason to top-up, and ideally I'd be looking for around 1.5k max for 2 (but could go slightly over) for the F&H as normal, but less if using part-pay etc. and happy with WT; don't need any cabins etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions that they've seen good deals for. We've done Florida & Toronto, I'd look for a 4/5 day NAM city-break type thing, but happy with elsewhere; My key thing is not being bored after a couple of days! Looking to fly from EDI, but GLA would be an option (or position to LON beforehand if required).

Appreciate it's pretty open ended, but hoping someone's got some good idea of deals and options.

thanks all

Muscat / Oman is within this budget, just about (12 October out, 18 October back).

Those dates are half term in Scotland but not England (English schools in our area are either off 21-25 Oct or 28 Oct -1 Nov) so you might find cheaper deals from an English airport for your dates.

Don't use your Avios on WT unless the prices are sky high; best bet would be to find a cheap fare and reduce the cost to pay if you don't see another use for these

Think anywhere that Thomas Cook didn't fly to - i.e. not Orlando, as a lot of rebooking has been done on scheduled airlines like BA. Which is why Oman as CWS mentioned would be a great place. It's just a great place anyway tbh.

Good replies so far; we were looking at LH from LON; mainly as BA is preferred and they don't do any LH from Scotland, but also due to the half-term impact. I didn't think about the Thomas Cook connection; will have a look around.
