Unusual seat map

Hi all

Just had my BA flight to JFK in mid-October cancelled and been rebooked onto an earlier BA-operated flight on the same day. Seat selection is now free which surprised me as they were charging £65 each before, and the seat map isn’t what I expected - four-across in CW on 772 (see below - EDIT: I can’t post the image as I’m a new member, but it is Seat - Aisle - Seat Seat - Aisle - Seat, all facing forward).

First thought was that this could be one of the refurbished planes with new Club suite but seen all the info suggests it isn’t due to commence on this route until the end of October. Could it be a non-BA aircraft on a BA-operated flight, or does this not really happen?

Apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere.

Thanks!

Hmmm ... non-BA sounds like a good guess! :)

This sounds like the new Club Suites which are being rolled on a 777s - slowly but JFK is one of the routes which will be getting them early on.

Welcome to Flyertalk and welcome to the BA forum, hammond_cheese, I hope you will tell us of your experiences of this aircraft in due course. Welcome to the forum.

Enjoy the new seat!! We have it to jfk a few days later and can't wait.

The new seat is flying a few days before the dates specified

Sounds like the aircraft in question is back in service so fingers crossed should be good for my flight next week!

Been reading a bit about seating on here - my wife and I took pretty much the last two seats available to select, on the back row but not together (see picture below). Sounds like it will definitely be worth doing early OLCI in case any pair opens up. However, failing that, do you think the person between us in row 17 would have an issue swapping to the window seat? Can't imagine anybody would prefer to sit in the middle if they were on their own, but perhaps there is something I don't know!

Cheers

Expert flyer shows as occupied, as opposed to blocked. I'd swop if asked.

That cabin appears full other than two blocked (9A & 9K)

Lots of people get auto allocated seats due to their profile preferences - this person may be set to "Aisle" and would be more than happy to swap to your window seat as they'll still be aisle and window !

Thanks everyone! Sounds like asking for an informal swap in the cabin is likely to be our best bet (assuming not much changes at check-in).
