No Birthday Message from BA

Hi i'm Silver with BA and was expecting a Happy Birthday email of some sort. That did not happen! I received one from Air France and one from Qatar and I have no status with either! Maybe British Airways are Jehovah's Witnesses and don't celebrate birthdays?

I hear they only celebrate special birthday events, not the average boring ones. Come back when you are 100.

The OP said they were expecting it as other airlines have wished them happy birthday.
BA doesnít do it, but they did once replace the checkin screen on the app with a fairy cake with a candle on my birthday - which was nice

Last year my significant birthday was very well recognised by the staff on the flight from OTP to LHR, I guess the other FTers on the flight made sure the event did not go unnoticed.

Personally I dont like birthday emails. Not because I am getting older, but I feel, maybe wrongly they are a security risk. Its one of the little bits of information that some people use against us. For example opening bank accounts or accessing financial information.

Also in hindsight I should have also wished the op a happy birthday as well.

I and my family don't celebrate birthdays either, but I have no compunction whatsoever in wishing djtriggz a very happy birthday and many returns of the day.

Yes, happy birthday to the OP too! Actually I guess youíre right - I donít have my birthday set on FB or linked in for this very reason.

As a a different background on the app, all auto-generated, I didnít have an issue so much.

A birthday email from British Airways would be nothing more than an auto-generated message sent by the IT system; no-one at BA is actually going to be aware, or care, that it's your birthday. I don't see why anyone would be disappointed that one wasn't received.

I'm with Misco60 on this. If a human marks my birthday (be it a friend with a card, or a gate agent noticing the significance of the date in the passport field) then I'm delighted - but a computer generated email - ugh, please no.
