Flights being covered by Air Belgium
In previous posts, details were provided of the flights the one Air Belgium A340 would be covering for BA. Previously Dubai and Newark, it is current covering the BA 92/93 to and from Toronto.
But two odd things to note:
1. In the last couple of weeks, the BA 92/93 reverted to 777-300 operation by BA, but has now reverted back to Air Belgium
2. According to "The BA Source",today - one AB aircraft covered the 92/93 and a second covered the Cairo flight.
I know a transition from Toronto to Cairo was due about now, but does the doubling up of Air Belgium aircraft show more demand by BA for replacement aircraft? And conversely in the last few weeks, why did BA resume the BA 92/93 flights? Was that due to a shortage of AB aircraft?
Confused!

The Air Belgium wet lease moved on to the Cairo route yesterday. It will remain on the BA155/154 until the end of October

It may be due to another 788 being grounded. One hasn't flown since June but another (ZBJD), which was flying around quite merrily, has been on the ground since 12th August. There's also a 789 in scheduled maintenance at Cardiff so this may have prompted BA to get a second A340 in to cover 92/93 for longer than was originally planned. As you say, the filed plan was to switch the A340 from the Toronto route to the Cairo route on 18th August.
