Instead of the usuals advice of go to airport early It may be a case of positioning close to the airport (say Tung Chung) find a coffee shop and waiting till later to see if check in has re-opened.
Thanks. Does anyone know if in-town check-in at the Airport Express stations has been suspended? That may be a viable option for check-in but getting to and through security at the terminal is another matter.

There's shopping center at Tung Chung with baggage lockers and food court, that's assuming it's open.

Cannot see on CX Twitter feed. Is this just general Twitter stuff that you have found? If true then basically the whole airport has been reduced to a standstill again as CX is about half of T1 along the left side check in as you walk in......

BA31 and 27 have landed in Hong Kong today. Question is whether they will sneak out with transit pax or those who checked in like 8 hours early, as they did yesterday

Amongst others the local journalist quoting airport authority.

Thought id added a picture of an airport statement.

Can’t 100% authenticate this.

Post 44 has the Customer advisory for BA passengers departing from HKG:

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/brit...l#post31407038

This has now been amended:

- rebooking is now extended to those travelling today (13 August) and tomorrow (14 August).
- refunds not permitted if flight operating
- travel to be rebooked no later than 25 August, as before.
Nothing in place for those travelling to HKG.

I don’t think an aircraft can ever ‘sneak out’ of an airport. They left with the permission of the authorities and ATC.

That's interesting... Yesterdays flights both went out, but only with transit passengers. If somebody now wants a refund, it appears BA will refuse.

There is no suggestion of that, the policy is referring to changes to flights that have not yet departed. Passengers who were prevented from travelling because checkin was closed will be entitled to a full refund if they choose not not reschedule their flight. They will not be considered no-shows.

OK - I didn't realise there was more than what C-W-S had posted.

In any case there have 2 further updates since posting and for today's flight refunds are now allowed.

This is the most informative:
Disruption at Hong Kong Airport continues.

Latest Information

Protesters have entered the airport terminal and check-in is currently suspended
Customers on BA032 and BA028 this evening have been messaged to advise them of the situation (see below)
Involuntary rebooking guidelines have been extended, see ART >

At the moment we intend to operate these flights, so if any customer is in transit then they follow instructions from either BA staff or the information screens
Customers starting their journey in HKG will need to keep checking ba.com for the latest information or rebook/refund following the guidelines

If the flights depart without Ex. HKG customers then the no-show robotic is switched off, so any connecting flights should not be automatically cancelled

Rebook connecting services following the guidelines as for cancelled/Flight delays services, see ART >

There is no disruption to arriving customers, both BA flights have now landed, albeit the terminal is very congested

BA735d rebooking guidelines on other carriers is not available, the situation is affecting all airlines and is dynamic

Message sent to customers on BA032/028 departing 13Aug
Information for customers travelling on British Airways operated services Hong Kong – London Heathrow 13th August 2019.
We are aware of the current protest movements at Hong Kong airport. We will continue to review our schedule and will provide you with a further update on the status of your flight once we can confirm more information. You can also monitor the status of your flight by visiting ba.com/arrdep
British Airways Customer Service.

For Agents
Keep checking ba.com latest Flight Status and
Use involuntary guidelines for customers departing HKG up to 15th August
People travelling today 13 August can now be rebooked until 26 August inclusive, or take a refund. The reference to 735d, an IATA agreement, is that they aren't rebooking people on to other carriers, since they are all affected.
