oh. website now working, rebooked. phew.

Something very similar happened on the 6th July - hard to diagnose precisely what went wrong when you're in the middle of it but paperwork had to be done manually and flights were delayed / cancelled. Two failures in a little over a month is obviously unacceptable. If it is the same as the last failure, its a pain but nothing like the major meltdown a few years back. I didn't get 2 years of status extension but I did get a modest service recovery gesture.

We have a take off slot for around 9.45: so 2 hours and 10 late.

The flight next to us was more fortunate, loading luggage at 08.15 left the gate a while back.

Id be interested to know what your delay was overall?

They are moving things through, I can see 4 Ba tails lining up for take off, the numbers are increasing 😁

BBC Breakfast news reported this today and the subtitles stated that it "Affected online chickens and departures". :D

To note CityFlyer/London City was not included in the original guidelines issued at 0730, but was added at 0755. So if you encounter an agent saying CityFlyer is not covered you may wish to ask them to check the latest guidelines (version 2 as things stand).

Just seen confirmation that all short haul out of LHR up to 1200 local have been cancelled

Looks and feels awfully like another SIP wobble. FLY was down but JFE is working, meaning its not an Amadeus problem.

but the IAG GBS CIO is going to retire with a golden handshake!

It was a day trip to NCE for the women's world cup 3rd/4th playoff - wasn't at the game but went to enjoy the experience. Outbound was c. 90 minutes delayed (plus access to the F wing was troublesome as the border gates wouldn't work). I was booked on the last flight back which ended up being cancelled - rebooked on the earlier flight (which meant I had to abort the game to get back to the airport - hence the service recovery). That ended up being c. 2 hours late (taking off later than the scheduled last flight they cancelled).

While BA uses a backup system, OLCI will be difficult / impossible since there are now two parallel systems - JFE using backed up data, OLCI pointing to a non functioning FLY.

Yeoman5 Aug 7, 19 2:44 am

no OLCI available, no seat selection possible, either on app, website nor even by the BA agent on the phone. When I spoke to them a few mins ago they told me the problems were on-going. They had problems just viewing my re-booked flight info. It's going to be a zoo at T5 today.

How could you possibly think Cruz is to blame?

Like the IT blowout a couple of summers ago and the more recent data breaches it will all be the fault of someone else probably external to BA who they have no responsibility for them letting the company down and indeed in all of this the only real victim is BA!

My only question is why people still trust them.

The spin will be interesting, they must have something ready that could be adapted in case of the pilots striking, just watch for the irrelevant and ridiculous arguments being made.

Further cancellation, so indeed all shorthauls until 12:00 and a few thereafter. Note that Split has been cancelled, so anyone out there should be talking to their hotel. The flights to Ibiza, Mykonos, Santorini and Corfu will operate however.

Because Cruz is the CEO and under his leadership IT was outsourced to the lowest bidder, in India. Since then there have been IT meltdowns, data hacks, power outages etc. The buck stops with him.
