Is there a way to know before which 777 we're flying with so I can check if it's one of the refurbished?
When we picked our seats through BE the layout was of the new cabin 1+2+1, we chose 8 A (window) and 8 F (isle), are they ok? Seatguru were of no help here, they only had the old layout on every 777 and even BA said that seatguru were not updated.
Is it a fixed schedule so that certain planes are always used on the same route? Or is it decided a couple weeks before? I know there is a lot of logistics involved in planning schedules so that everything runs smoothly and it can also change on a dime.
We booked directly with BA and everything is on one ticket

Hi
Nothing is guaranteed but you've got a decent chance it'll be the layout from the seat selection you chose. Use Aeropla for accurate seat maps. If it's a 777-300 ER with CS then it's
https://www.aerolopa.com/ba-type-77h
If you've selected 8A and 8F then they aren't on the same aisle. Also it looks like row 8 on this plane is misaligned - looks like 8A is closer aligned to 9E.

G-VIIP has been at CWL since 11th April which seems quite a long time to have been there for just routine maintenance. Has this aircraft been temporarily parked?

Also, does anyone have any further details of when G-YMMT will be back in service following the recent CS refurb?

Hi,

I am looking at flying from London to Barbados for our honeymoon and we are trying to work out if the business class would be worth it. The newer Club Suite looks nice but I can't tell if the flights out would have the newer or older equipment. Can anyone advise? and does our departure airport make any difference?

Also if it is the old version how is this and is it worth an additional £600pp?

Cheers

Is the price differential between premium economy and business only £600pp for the whole trip? If so, Iíd pay that in a heart beat. Old club world isnít nearly as nice as club suite but itís a hell of a lot better to have a flat bed than a normal seat.

I actually have been quoted from both Heathrow and Gatwick hence why I asked if it was airport dependent, seems that gatwick only flies once a week and heathrow the other 6? - Maybe the travel agent was just an idiot no idea

Is there any information about what the old setup is like? i can only find BA talking about their new superior CS

It was an additional £600 each way per person for the business package. Not sure we can stretch to business both ways but we were thinking we are going to do premier economy (traveller+ ??) out and making use of the business upgrade so we can sleep over night. Not sure as the furthest either of us have flown before is the algarve :/ so 8 hours seems a bit daunting in a tiny little seat hence why were were thinking of upgrading.

I think booking business for the night flight makes the most sense if your budget doesnít stretch to both ways. However, have you considered booking premium economy and upgrading using Avios? I donít know how good redemption availability is on that route but itís worth considering. Also worth checking the AUP thread to see what price you can expect to pay at the airport to upgrade from W to J.

My latest published review of the old product was on the upper deck of the 747, but you can find that review here: In the Shadow of Concorde: The British Airways Premium Experience Revisited

The product on the 777 is essentially the same, but with much higher density (2-4-2 rather than 2-2) and no side storage bins.

I've just done 13+ hours LHR-SIN on the 787-9; it's a pretty terrible product with virtually no storage and no privacy in an aisle seat. The trip report for that is coming soon.

Take a Club Suites-equipped aircraft if you have the choice.

That is one in-depth trip review - felt like i was went on the trip with you! You say its a terrible product but it looks good to me and a 'small' improvement from the Easyjets and Ryanair flights that I am used to! I would love to take a Club Suite aircraft but im not sure if they are on the route that is what I was hoping to determine and was hoping that this was the place to find out It does seem its the older CW however.

Thanks for the info.

Thank you!

If you're new to longhaul business class, it will be a great experience I'm sure; the old Club World seat is just not particularly modern or competitive with newer hard products found on most major airlines.

If you don't have a choice between old or new seats, old Club World is still a comfortable way to travel.

If you share your travel dates, I can check ExpertFlyer to confirm whether your flight is currently scheduled to be the old or new product.
