I wonder how long it will take BA to refurbish their entire LH fleet with the new Club Suite?

If each refurb takes a month, one plane per month, excluding a hypothetical LGW fleet of 19 777s I’d say 6 years and a bit*

*quick back of the envelope calculation done on the train.

as a measure of comparison, AF started in 2014 and still hasn’t finished.

The schedule above indicates 2 777s a month

Its a bit more complicated than that as there is a substantial amount of new aircraft arriving with the new product (A35K, 78X, last 4 77Ws, and then 77X) plus a significant amount of aircraft leaving the fleet in the coming few years (mainly the 744s, 3 772s). The 77Es and 77Ws look like they will be done within two years, with a good chunk done under a year from now. During that period the new 77Ws will be delivered and the old 772s gone, plus a few 744s. That creates a good increase in the chance of getting Club Suite on a flight within a fairly short time period. The hard part seems to be the 787s and A380s, those would probably take another 2 years. I'd say destinations that exclusively get 787 service are out of luck for a while, and those with 777 service will finally find (some) enjoyment in those aircraft.

G-RAES went to JFK as normal about 11 hours ago, so she obviously didn't get the memo.

Sadly, Marc J's "ton of research" clearly didn't unearth the secret nuggets of information that aircraft changes can take place at any time, that no aircraft type is ever guaranteed, and that an aircraft change is not a reason for demanding a free reservation/ticket change.

I would also be happy with this. I like the A380 so this would be a sign that BA intend to keep this plane for a long time compared with AF who seem to want to dump asap.

I think you are about right. The 55 777s that are being refurbished are similar in number to the 12 A380 and 30 787s currently in the fleet. I guess the 787s might be quicker to refurbish than the 777s, as they won't need new seats or IFE in WT or WT+, the A380s might take a bit longer due to the size of the aircraft. At least the A380 and 787 have modern IFE, AC systems and a fairly high proportion of direct-aisle access CW seats.

Seems to have moved to the 179/182 JFK rotation for at least a few days in November.

Question is whether to sit tight on a 177 booking or make the switch now...?

There's definitely something going on. Look at the image below taken from google flights, and spot the error!

It is if you're on an AA ticket. If being on a Club Suite flight is important then book with AA (i.e. a 001 ticket) and they will let you switch to a different flight for free if there is an aircraft change (i.e. 777 - 747). This happened to me a few days ago when they switched round aircraft types for BA173 and BA177 and AA quite happily let me swap flights with no hesitation. They even let me re-route via JFK when they pulled the transcon A321T from BOS - LAX.

If it's a matter of a Club Suite 777 being substituted for a non-Club Suite one then there isn't much you can do (unless you can persuade an AA agent that this constitutes an aircraft swap).

But I'm sure everyone here will be used to this kind of uncertainty from flying with Qatar - out of four QSuite scheduled flights at time of booking, I have flown on the sum total of zero QSuite flights in the last couple of years!

Is the 777-200 seat map shown at the top of this wiki accessible on the ba.com website?

Since all the G-YMM series won't have first class, many LH destination will have F completely axed, the G-YMMX are the one serving PVG, is there any information regarding BA plans for the route?

Noticed this today. Seems BA have been shuffling their plans around. https://www.routesonline.com/news/38...r-w19-service/

Hope nobody here is now disappointed after these changes! Most notably, BAH, DMM, NBO, PHL and DXB no longer planned to have Club Suite 777 ops this coming winter.

Not sure if this represents an overall reduction compared to original plan, or just sideways shuffle. Maybe someone else has that info?
