Ridiculous BA Club Europe false advertising

Flying LHR-BLQ on an A321 and was surprised to see BA offering an 'upgrade' with an image of their new A350 suite, which has barely started flying (if at all) on a different aircraft and a different route.

I acknowledge when you click "upgrade" the bait-and-switch to CE seat appears, but why have BA done this in the first place? Anyone with limited web development expertise could program and if/then condition such that the image accurately reflects the aircraft and route that is being flown.

I think it is a general upgrade section of the website, so the same picture whatever flight your flying.

To be fair if you are not a regular traveller and you got that image next to an offer to upgrade it would be easy to think that is what you were going to get. I think you would also be very disappointed and somewhat cross when you found out what CE is really like!

1) Clearly this a breach of Trading Standards?
2) If you upgraded and didnít get this seat as in picture write to BA and complain.

Or or maybe the A350 is being trained on this route 🤣. Although not based on other threads 😜

Not Trading Standards (who don't speak to the public anymore), but the Advertising Standards Authority do take an interest in things like this.

I've seen something similarly sneaky with Malaysian Airlines. I've booked domestic flights on 737s and they send an email with an offer to upgrade. The seat pic in the email is a J seat on their A330. Big difference in product and I'm sure some people get duped thinking they'll get a flat seat.

Without trying to defend BA, Air Astana sent me 6 emails to entice me to upgrade for 2 flights Iím about to take. In all six there are photos of the Thomson Aero seat on their 767s; my flights are on Embraer and A320.

Iíd say itís a fairly common thing...
