The exit row flag is a popup that comes up to anyone seated in the exit row. It's often cleared down without comment/question at check-in, lounge or gate. Occasionally, the staff do ask though. It's not age-triggered.

The flight being oversold is one of the reasons why OLCI may be unavailable, or perhaps temporarily suspended while they are shuffling some seats/upgrades around.

At check in she just read the passports and gave us the boarding passes.... nothing out of the ordinarily....
