G-BNLY [Landor-liveried B744] Stuck in LAS

It appears the landor livery 744 operated to LAS on 4th June but is there since, apparently parked at the cargo terminal. Some reports of a hole in the wing 🤨

Not good news at all. Could be out a while depending on damage.

Wouldn’t be the first time a 26 year old Brit overstays in Vegas

Knowing BA it will go on a charter flight. Probably from Stansted/East Midlands or Doncaster. The RB211 can only be transported in a 747 or larger due to its size when in a cradle, if I remember correctly.

@BAW217 Why wouldn't they COMAT it on the next 744 heading out? Or would it only fit on 747 Cargo?

Would Boeing not be able to supply one from Seattle? Or would they not have them as the 744 isn’t built any more?

Boeing doesn't make engines, it will be coming either from BA itself, or from Rolls Royce.

I understand that. But Rolls Royce ship countless engines to Boeing prior to final assembly. Thought they might have “spares”

Only fits on the main deck of the 747, it’s far too big for the lower hold. Hence it has to be a cargo aircraft.

Can BA do what Qantas do and just strap a spare to the wing of the next 747 going to LAS?

Or are these extra mounts not fitted to BA 744s?

Can’t do it on a BA 744, hence the need to charter or buy space on a scheduled service if there is room.
