Dear

We're looking forward to welcoming you on board your flight with us from London Heathrow to Glasgow on 25 August.

We wanted to let you know that we'll be making a change to the aircraft operating your flight. Your flight will no longer be operated by a Boeing 747.

We understand that, after speculation on aviation websites, some of our customers booked on BA1482 hoping to be part of our birthday celebration. Well happily offer a full refund to anyone who no longer wishes to travel.

You'll be able to view the timing changes to your flight at ba.com/mmb in the next 24 hours.

If you would like to make a change to your booking, please contact us.

If you booked through a travel agent, please contact them to make any changes.

The seating situation will sort itself out - or not - in time. Its not a 13 hour flight to the far east and being a part of the 100th anniversary flights is the thing here. i expect the planes are full of guests and VIPs who need to be accommodated first. So relax basically.

There's going to be one person returning up north on this flight for the bank holiday weekend wondering what the craze is, and be completely oblivious to what's going on (heard this happened on the last 767 flight BA663)

Sadly won't be joining as I'm moving abroad - should be a good experience on board and hope everyone who goes does enjoy it!

Am I the only one who thinks this is now crazy money for a flight on a lump on a domestic for 55 minutes that could in theory find yourself sitting in the middle seat in the central cabin area block of 4 or 5 across or wateva BS BA have down the back (I don't venture down there). Shudder also to think how GLA will handle the loading and unloading...will they use the 380 gate?

Just booked myself on BA1386 1010 to MAN using a GPR. The agent I spoke to said were only a couple of seats left in CE, apparently, so people must be paying (...or using GPR's).

Seat reserved when I booked but nothing showing and I can only see the front of the cabin and the upper deck, which are all blocked.

I've managed to get a seat in CW (by phone), but the seat-map in MMB still shows the F cabin

Agree- if BA have been blocking all the good seats for VIPs / press and they are charging a crazy fare to sit somewhere in the back middle for us mignons, then Im quite happy to miss out. It just so happens that we are flying elsewhere in Europe on 25th, so if there is anything special at the airport, we could still experience that and if there is nothing put on, no loss. I sincerely hope they put on something special for those that have paid up for these 747 domestics and its not just a standard BOB run.

Wondering whether the funds could be better deployed on a MAD rotation on the A350 in the new Club suite when the time comes... However I know a retired BA staff member and have asked him to check whether any BA100 747 tickets are to be had at a reasonable price via the staff travel portal...

minions. Mignons (or mignonnes) is something completely different.

It's for the occasion. There will likely be cake at the gate or something like that, champagne, goody bags, free tickets to the Maldives, you name it. It won't just be a centre seat in a knackered 747. Believe.

You will be delighted to hear that participation in this event isn't compulsory. I paid 72 for the two flights, and I haven't a clue what is going to happen. However as a CUSTOMER I absolutely demand a BRASS BAND on the tarmac at RAF Woolsington. If this event is not for you then you will no doubt be able to read all the details in the forum, and probably a few photos too. But in terms of seating, even middle WT on a 747 is going to be a better seat than any on an A320.

In hindsight, it seems a shame that BA didn’t do something like, say, “100 return seats for 100” on each flight and make it more of an occasion.

Also quite chucklesome to note the clamour to get seats when 2 out of the 3 heritage-liveried planes are unrefurbished Mid-Js that are, ordinarily, the subject of much “How bad is it ? / How do I avoid this plane ?” postings ....

A full 747 with absolutely minimal checked bags and cabin baggage.

Takeoff should be fun!
