Dear

We're looking forward to welcoming you on board your flight with us from London Heathrow to Glasgow on 25 August.

We wanted to let you know that we'll be making a change to the aircraft operating your flight. Your flight will no longer be operated by a Boeing 747.

We understand that, after speculation on aviation websites, some of our customers booked on BA1482 hoping to be part of our birthday celebration. We’ll happily offer a full refund to anyone who no longer wishes to travel.

You'll be able to view the timing changes to your flight at ba.com/mmb in the next 24 hours.

If you would like to make a change to your booking, please contact us.

If you booked through a travel agent, please contact them to make any changes.
On Sunday 25 Aug - the day of BAs 100th birthday - BA are operating these domestic rotations with 747s, reportedly the three heritage-liveried aircraft :

phew - so should I expect at least come kind of opportunity in the future to select a seat ?! Is it likely that WT+ will be available for Golds in economy ?

Expertflyer seat alerts at the ready, just incase the upper deck block is lifted. Interestingly, 4 UD seats looking booked as well as 1A presumably those folks got in before the block on seats was implemented.
i was speaking to a friend who was originally on one of these these flights before they were switched to the 747 and they were allocated a seat on the UD... so I wonder if the booked seats are those who were on the flight before the change was made

Is the BEA aircraft likely to be flying somewhere ‘special’?

That's what I'm hoping! I said in my call that I could only see the WT+ cabin in MMB, but I couldn't select any seats there (my ticket is economy). The agent said 'would you like to sit there' and I said 'yes'. He tried to move me from 31K into WT+, but couldn't - he went off to consult and then told me what I posted earlier.

I mentioned that it was a bit out of the ordinary as the flights were being operated by a 747 and they were attracting a bit of attention in the FF community! Yes, he said, 'I saw an email about that earlier'

LHR-GLA-LHR:
Seems that the revenue team has worked here. No J at all for sale GLA-LHR and only 3 for LHR-GLA.

(Edit: Or perhaps calculated based on an A320/ 321)

The cheapest day return has sold out from NCL. Now Ł185 at least, returning that evening - I've placed a hold on returning the following night.

Booked what exactly? Noone seems to know exactly what's going on, apart from three 747s are flying domestically.

Do we think there will be any other opportunities for special flights like these? Any other chances to be involved in the celebrations on that day?

Has anyone managed to pay for seats? You able to book seats at time of booking and the flight is filling up fast especially as we want a window seat. Will ring BA tomorrow, but just wondered if anyone has had any luck?

My app is showing BA1386 as ‘You can only select seats at checkin’ and BA1391 is only showing the WTP seat map.

The contact centre says it’s due to the flight being months away...

Did you book in the past 24 hours with BA? If so, you should be able to cancel within grace period w/o charge.
