Dear

We're looking forward to welcoming you on board your flight with us from London Heathrow to Glasgow on 25 August.

We wanted to let you know that we'll be making a change to the aircraft operating your flight. Your flight will no longer be operated by a Boeing 747.

We understand that, after speculation on aviation websites, some of our customers booked on BA1482 hoping to be part of our birthday celebration. Well happily offer a full refund to anyone who no longer wishes to travel.

You'll be able to view the timing changes to your flight at ba.com/mmb in the next 24 hours.

If you would like to make a change to your booking, please contact us.

If you booked through a travel agent, please contact them to make any changes.
On Sunday 25 Aug - the day of BAs 100th birthday - BA are operating these domestic rotations with 747s, reportedly the three heritage-liveried aircraft :

I think you are just seeing the fare difference upgrade price. If you are offered a POUG it would be reasonably obvious as it shows on one of the banners at the top of the page of MMB, and also down at the bottom the upgrade line would say: Upgrade for XX per adult

Keep checking MMB every so often though as you may be offered at some point. Just to note if you are not offered one via MMB there is no point calling BA, they won't be able to offer you anything more than what you can see on MMB.

Yes, that's how I thought it might happen - not yet though ...

Got a 69 upgrade on the LHR-GLA flight.

Seat map now shows F cabin for main deck and CW upper deck with all seats greyed out.

Just read a trip report of the visit of the Oneworld livery 747 visit to Newcastle on 26th July 2010 for the airports 75th birthday - it seems that for the LHR-NCL leg they did operate a drinks service (pre BOB). Just wondering if BA might be generous and offer a treat on board the "birthday" aircraft - we can live in hope.

I have just moved out of 30K to somewhere further forward, so maybe call and see if you can get it.

I notice that POUGs have been offered to those past the 24 hour free cancellation period, as is normal, indeed POUGs can take 3 days to work through the system. POUGs used to be offered nearly immediately, which then led to people gaming the system, hence the delay. So check again later today / tomorrow, the banners shown above make it very clear if it is on offer.

Me too and decided to go with it - even though it probably means I won't get a window seat. I really don't expect upper deck to become available - should I phone up and see if I can book one of the seats that are still available?
