First, First Flight!
Hi guys just wanted to announce that i have booked my first reward flight in first!!
Flying this Friday i found a great deal from CDG-LHR-NBO for £230 (One-Way) (109k Avios) in First . The taxes were the same for CW and First so i just went with First. Yes yes i actually live 15 mins from Heathrow so will now plan how i'm getting from LHR-CDG. My CE flight from CDG is at 7.25 so may prove a little tricky.
Anyway i would like to thank everyone on this forum!
Also i have been given seat 2K both the 1 seats are blocked. Is this because i'm only a silver status?? When would i be able to try for a Row 1 seat if at all?

RE 1A/1K you might be able to nab them at OLCI and yes its only available to gold, it's only really worth it if you're on the 747 IMO
You'll have to overnight in CGD, if you're unsure, rewards can be cancelled for £35 so don't worry too much. Is there much difference in taxes flying direct from LHR?

Anyway, in my opinion, it was a great experience sitting in the front of the plane with no neighbour and everybody on the plane behind me

I'm confused, since this is a reward flight, why bother with the CDG-LHR leg? It's not a 'deal'
The taxes would go up to £373 but the Avios required would fall to 85k and you'd avoid positioning costs and hassle

I'm a Silver like your good self and just phoned up the You First line about 3 days before the flight to ask for 1A 1K.
Row 1 in a 747 are great seats, forget the moaners who get the chance to sit in First regularly.

Not necessarily, and unlikely to be the only Gold in F IME. Just that people who have tried various seats in the BA 747 F cabin actually do not like row 1 (myself included) so will happily chose to sit elsewhere and leave the "prestige" of row 1 to others who like to be cramped in a F seat
