Do you mean without anyone in 1K? That's cool. Or travelling with a companion 1A and 1K are fine.

But if there is someone in 1K then I prefer 2A, like various others. And I'm far from a regular F traveller. I've just done enough to have tried a few spots and 2A is mine. I wouldn't describe row1 as cramped, but I do find row 2 more spacious. But each to their own - for everyone that prefers 1A that's less competition for me!

Congrats on your first FIRST...Assuming your on BA65 this Friday, 31 May 2019, you can use alot of tools to check..FlightStats.. https://www.flightstats.com/v2/ or FR24 (Flight Radar24 ) https://www.flightradar24.com/51.33,7.42/2 or even FlightAware, https://uk.flightaware.com ..Hope this helps.. Being an AVGEEK I would go for 1A or 1K just for the bragging rights.. 2A and 2K are also great..

Apologies for hijacking the thread, but what would be the best seats for a couple in F? CPT-LHR, so a 744.

See Seating Queries: First.

And be prepared for controversy.

I was moved from 3A to 1A on my recent flight on a 777 (due to non working IFE) and it was horrible, I much prefer 3A - MrS is in 2A so I haven’t tried that.

For a first (and possibly first and only on this plane) Iíd definitely go for row 1 if you can and ignore the mopers; but equally row 2 is fine too. Either way you canít beat the novelty value of sitting further forward than the pilot 😃.

As another lowly Silver I managed to switch a couple booking from 2A + 2K to 1A + 2A at 24h (I hadnít thought of ringing up). The wife was understanding and we both enjoyed the novelty of buddy dining (and the CC enjoyed making it happen) even though everyone here says youíre not Ďsupposedí to enjoy it on the 747. I know you (OP) are solo this trip but the point is that received wisdom about what is too cramped etc. isnít always relevant to your first time. We thought it was all unreservedly great.

The negative comments are from theírealí frequent flyers. All respect to them, but as a (like you) Ďtouristí/interloper in First, our criteria are different; I wanted 1A/K or 2A/K and the whole thing was great fun. I couldnít have cared less about whether the space was an inch or so less than another seat or the wardrobe door made a noise; happy to leave such worries to those who commute on the things, but I donít. Enjoy it, itíll be great.

Work is taking me to KWI later this year & was looking at F redemption KWI-LHR at 42500 Avios + £187. This has to be one of the best redemptions out there ?!?! Will probably actually book KWI-LHR-EDI to use CCR for same Avios + £205. B2B @ EDI is easy also !

Im using Airportr to pick up all my luggage so it can go directly onto the LHR-NBO flight so its all worked well. I dont mind the trip to CDG to get cheaper taxes!

I have yet to travel in a BA First cabin where I found that I would rather be in some seat other than 1A/K. (Full disclosure: I haven't been in F on the 789 yet.)

On a 747 I like 1A/K with K being my preference for westbound TATL flights owing to the position of the sun. On the 777 it's 2A/K again with K getting the edge. A380 row 1 is nice but the cupboard doors over the aisle that rattle which isn't great. Crew will fix this by stuffing tissues in the gap. It has the advantage that you're closest to the toilets. This means you can be the first into your pyjamas once the seatbelt light goes out. Haven't done the 787 yet.

I'm in no sense jealous at you. However I do give you a word of advice: Avios are better spent on upgrading CW -> F, rather than redeeming First with Avios and paying the extra fees.

Enjoy the flight!

IMHO no seat in any First class cabin should leave a passenger feeling it is horrible, but as ever it comes down to personal opinion.
