Vienna is a good city break destination. Very grand city. If you like old buildings, museums and culture then it is the place fo go. If you want a beach / sunbathing less so!

Vienna has a very grand InterCon which is well located. The rooms are a bit tired (but immaculately clean / repaired) but the public areas are very opulent with a lovely lobby level bar and professional service. Not as expensive as many ICs (ie Marseille).

If you want a further BA connection you can go to the Do&Co hotel bar (Stephansplatz) for drinks overlooking the cathedral. It is a bit dressy / pretentious though so YMMV. Plenty of independent coffee places / brunch places if that’s more your thing.

If you fancy a day trip you can hop on the train and go through the mountains.

In short, a proper city which mixes new and old very well.

Bilbao and go one culinary tour of the Basque country. One of the best ever trips was a restaurant holiday there. Pick a different restaurant each day and head there. From a pub in Gernika to San Sebastien. :-)

In the summer I would say either Helsinki combined with the ferry trip to Tallinn for a night or Vienna and a night in Bratislava. Lisbon is my favourite of the T3 SH destinations but I prefer it in the fall

How many days do you have? Vienna to Budapest (or vice versa) by train is very convenient so you could open-jaw it between these two. Both are very nice cities, although I prefer BUD over VIE

Although a great destination and suggestion since April the route is now from Gatwick I believe. And because of route/terminal changes info from old threads, while still relevant in many cases, should be used with a bit of care too.

Lux is fabulous. Take a night time walking.tour and learn about its strategic role in history. You can eat high quality food at fraction of price in Paris and their white wine and Luxembourg creme is a delight.

Some of these destinations can be leveraged to other places nearby. Bratislava is a good one, it's like Prague but with only a fraction of tourist visitors; Trier is in easy reach of LUX, you can even do it on day return flights.

Looking at the list, there really isn't a duff one in there, you can't go wrong. Pula is perhaps tricky due to location and the local emphasis on one week holidays, but even that can be managed. So it may be more a question of fixing your preferred dates and then seeing what is the most cost effective pair of flights that fit in.

Bratislava also has ridiculously cheap beer of that's your thing. Budvar for €1.50 for 500ml. Plenty of good food that is inexpensive also.

Pisa is worth a look. Easy access to Florence, Lucca and other cities too by train. Italian trains aren't expensive at all (albeit the Trenitalia website is very frustrating to use!). PSA has a lovely lounge too for the return.

One more vote for Helsinki. A beautiful city that's a bit off the radar and now it's a good time to go (white nights). There are two wide-body AY flights a day with flat beds in business class that you can book with Avios, although obviously not as an RFS. Klaus K is a good place to stay and Bas and Baskeri & Basso Bistro an amazing place for dinner/wine.

To the OP, just make sure if you choose Helsinki then not to come weekend of 21-23June as that is midsummer and the city is like a ghost town with very little of interest open. Also Baskeri bistro is closed from 20June-05Aug and you'll be lucky to get any kind of reservation even before then!

Indeed, it was a bad attempt at a joke about Gibraltar...
