Upgrade on partner airline (JAL) when using Avios booking
Hi all,
Apology if this is already asked before, I checked the first 3 pages but couldn't find the answer. Anyway, I want to use Avios for JAL one way in J or F on a specific date but there are only Y or PE seats available. If I book Y to secure a seat on this flight, later on J or F become available, can I upgrade on BA site? do i have to cancel the original booking and book the new premium seat?

Not sure what distinction you are drawing here. In effect you’d change the award and you would only be able to do it over the phone (changing dates in the same class could be done online though).

You can book now and if a higher cabin comes up call to change it later by paying the extra avios, any extra taxes/fees/charges due, and a change fee of £35 per person.
