CAI-LHR Boeing 788 year-round

Hey sorry for not being able to find the wiki with aircraft change but it seem that BA changed the aircraft to Cairo, now it seem to be Boeing 787-8 year-round. No more A321 ex BMI to Cairo. I have a booking for November and I got an email informing me of a seat change, when I went on, I saw that they switched from a321 to 788. Looking on Expertflyer I saw that now it appears 788 for all the days in October, November, DEcember, January etc.
That's excellent news for those cheap fares out of Cairo and I inventory

Never actually flown it. Is there a consensus whether the 321 ex BMI business class is in any way a superior product to the much maligned regular CW?

Seems the beginning of B788 shorter sector routes, perhaps a sub fleet that won’t get new club world suite J.

HighAndAbove, BA are still using the 777 CAI-LHR. They stopped using the A321 at the end of March. They also use the 787-8. A close eye always needs to be kept on this route for seasonal flight changes. Hopefully, you will get your preferred plane when you fly, Until tourism picks up significantly in Egypt they may still use the A321 again in winter.

For a couple of years, it has been 321 during winter and 788 during summer. Seems like it's mainly 777 these days. A 321 was still scheduled for this winter, but it seems like it's now a 788 and has had a slightly improved schedule change - leaves CAI at 0630 rather than 0330 or whatever it was.

Looking at the June schedules it looks like the 788, 789 and 772 are on the CAI route.

I wouldn't bank on anything being 'year-round' for CAI. Plenty of time for changes yet...

I am flying CW next week CAI-LHR and the flight will be operated by a 777 with 4 cabins configuration.

In the past I was able to secure a seat in the First cabin on online check-in with CW service.

Is that still possible to do at this time or the F is always closed and not open for BA elite members as it used to be?

CAI-LHR is now controlled strictly by the airport. The F cabin will remain closed during OLCI and if it is required on the day they will select and move the people chosen at around 2.5 hours before departure, just after they start actual check-in. In the past once the cabin was opened they would let the cabin fill up with anyone who could choose it, now they will select only the minimum number of people needed to be moved out of CW.

In the selection process: will they upgrade to F cabin based on status or fare bucket paid?

Not CIV at CAI, they don't differentiate between Gold and GGL.

On my last CAI-LHR flight I couldn't check in online before the flight. Luckily, we had selected our CW seats long before.
