Avios expiry and family account

As we all know, Avios expire after 36 months unless you collect, spend, purchase or share them. How does this work in a family account? If I purchase a reward ticket for one of the members in the family account, Avios will be taken from all members individual accounts. Does that count as an activity that resets the 36 months even though the reward ticket is not for them?
