Slightly off topic but is relevant, make certain that your car park booking(if you have one) is extended to cover the later time you will be arriving.I know most car parks in the Heathrow area give a period of grace but it varies depending on the company. It may comes as a nasty shock after a long flight to find you have to pay an extra charge.

I've had a schedule change notification for my inbound BA10 next weekend, departing at 12:00 rather than 11:40 and arriving at 19:15 rather than 18:40 (seems a touch conservative given recent performance).

Nothing for my outbound BA9 this weekend, although my relative who will be flying BA9 towards the end of May has had her arrival time pushed back by 45 mins. Looks like BA is beginning to proactively adjust their timings with some notice.

Economy on BA9/10 is not so bad, At least it's still a 9 abreast 777. CW is where the issues are, it's shockingly bad.

Same as Jak_Nottingham today I got an e-mail from BA with a schedule change on BA10 from BKK 11:40 LHR 18:30 to BKK 12:00 LHR 19:15. I guess this is due to all the delays so now they can say they are on time.

Is that a booking for flights some time before 15th May? I have BA9/10 booked for late June but they are still showing the original flight times at the moment.

Let us know how it goes. This route is not BA’s service at its best.

Having just flown that route, the dogma that this is a poor run is false. The aircraft (B77-200) were 6 and 7 years old, were clean and the crews were excellent, and in-flight trouble free with very good catering. The return was delayed and a connection missed, but even the ground staff were good- I stepped off the plane to receive my sofitel room booking for the night and a flight rebooking arranged that suited me. Given that I have flown 26 legs since the start of March and that 6 of these were 11 hours or longer, BA9/10 were the best of them all.

We flew from Bangkok to Heathrow on Sunday 28th April and were told at the airport that it was not delayed but retimed to 1200.....

it was also heavily overbooked in WT and they were offering Ł250 pp plus hotel to fly on the following day . We offered our selves up but as we were in Club they said no. It went out with people in the jump seats , presumably stand by crew . They pulled the curtains around the jump seats once in flight . To be honest the food was excellent , crew excellent , the best club kitchen I have seen for ages . Had a medical emergency onboard which kept me occupied for a while . Given a bottle of champers at the end of the flight . Only the inflight entertainment screens let it down .

Maybe being pedantic but the youngest 772 in the fleet is just coming up to it’s 10th birthday.

What’s more relevant though is that the 3 class fleet’s soft product is well past it’s sell by date and is last in line for an upgrade.

Yes we were on a 9 year old I believe . The soft product with the exception of the ife was no different to any other that I have been on recently and was rather cleaner than the last a380 that I was on , although I do love the side bins and huge Loos upstairs on the a380. The club kitchen had lots of sandwiches, hummus pots , yoghurts, mini deserts , chocs , crisps , bread sticks , pasta salads etc this compared to the box of chocs only on lhr to sin on the a380 .

Ended up flying in G-YMMU on both BA9 and BA10 and with the readjusted times (due to the Pakistan airspace restrictions) where on time. However, I'm not going through those 2 awful flying experiences again: uncomfortable semi-broken seats, what has to be the world's smallest and lowest resolution IFE screens, very small range of TV programmes and films, inedible food (I'm sure the veggie pasta had already been eaten before I got it), never seen 2 overhead lockers open during take-off before (one heavy looking cabin bag looked close to falling out), BA9 had a large group of young lads spread out across the cabin endlessly drinking alcohol as if it was their local pub. Had to take BA this time due to my unlucky schedule constrains. Next time I'll ensure I can return to my one-stop via AMS/CDG/XMN/SGN/HAN or TPE. I hope others have better BA flying than I had.

This flight is also frequently impacted by lack of suitable aircraft to operate it anŁ needs to wait for the First Available Aircraft. It requires one of the 3 class Rolls Royce engined aircraft which limits their ability to switch aircraft as easily as flights to other closer destinations.

Iranian airspace is now having an impact on this. Saturday's BA9 was a bit of a farce to be honest. Looks like BA10 didn't get back to LHR until 11pm Sunday night because it.

STD: 16:10
I got to the gate around 15:20
Flight crew arrived at 15:30. I don't know what the standard operating procedure is but this seemed late to me.
15:35 gate staff decide to "board" pre-boarders and group 1, but to only stay at the top of the stairs and not go down to the aircraft.
15:40 announcement that the aircraft is too hot and boarding won't start until it is cooled down.
15:45 another announcement, still too hot
15:55 another announcement, still too hot
16:00 I check the app, while they announce still too hot and STD now delayed until 17:45
16:05 announcement that due to a technical issue with the aircraft, boarding has been delayed until 17:45 and those of us that were "boarded" need to be "de-boarded"
I went to B lounge and got back to the gate about 17:20. They actually announced in the lounge at 17:15 that boarding will start in 5 to 10 mins.
17:25 Gate staff announce that boarding will start in 5 or 10 mins, then the Flight Crew appear behind the gate staff.
17:30 Captain makes an announcement, apologies for not giving details earlier, delay was due to a 2 hour delay imposed by ATC, because of Pakistan airspace and now restrictions on Iranian airspace. Cue confusion because everyone thought there was now going to be another 2 hour delay because of the way it was communicated. The gate staff made another announcement to clarify that we would be boarding soon and in fact we did board at 17:45.
Around 18:30 Captain comes on again, another ATC delay for a slot until 18:55 also still issues with the route near Iran (he said they were talking to various agencies).
19:05 Captain comes on again, another delay due to military activity over London (I think it was some Typhoon jets scrambled to assist a Jet2 flight land at Southend)
19:30 we got the all clear to go at last!

The communication did leave a lot to be desired at the beginning. I have a feeling that the route issues were from the outset and is probably why the Flight Crew were late arriving after trying to sort it out. The aircraft is too hot and the technical issue with the aircraft felt like fake news to me. An email from BA said it was all down to the Pakistan and Iran airspace, so it will be extraordinary circumstances and no EC261 compo!

My IFE didn't work as well so I got bumped up to WTP which is fair enough. My first time down the back on BA9 since it changed from 747, always been in CW before and never had a problem with it. But those cabins down the back are a bit crap now, roll on the refurb!
