Thanks all for the replies above. I think we'll try and keep it OW, I'll certainly have a look at the QR option ex ARN. The BA WT+ fare ex Brussels seems interesting, I can't seem to find anything like it though!! In the meantime, if I keep it BA: -
1. BA 15 Q 03FEB LHRSIN 2145 1830+1
2. BA 12 T 24FEB SINLHR 2315 0515+1
Out WT, Back WT+ = GBP840.22, combined with: -
1. BA 15 T 06FEB SINSYD 2005 0650+1
2. BA 16 Q 20FEB SYDSIN 1630 2130
Out WT+, Back WT = SGD1176 eqv GBP667
GRAND TOTAL GBP1507.22.
OR :-
1. BA 15 X 03FEB LHRSIN 2145 1830+1
2. BA 12 X 24FEB SINLHR 2315 0515+1
WT Only 241 Redemption (57750 Avios) GBP361.38 + GBP667 as above GRAND TOTAL GBP1028.38.
Thanks again for all suggestions, please keep them coming........

Without wishing to pry is there any specific reason your flight has to be OW? Just with you being Blue Im assuming most of your avios are from the BA amex and therefore you're not getting any status benefits and the avios earnings particularly in economy are woeful?

You're "prying" is quite welcome and does lead to the question of "Why bother at all?". We travel to Indonesia multiple times and Australia usually once per year, some short breaks to Europe occasionally also. Couple that with most household spend via AX and hey-presto before you know it tangible "rewards" can accrue. In the past CW from BDA & DEL which for two of us starts to seem good value. Being London based No Other Airline scheme exists that has any scope at all. It may very well be coming to the stage that being Loyal both to AX & BA/OW is literally and metaphorically "Pointless"........

One thing I would add is don't bother repositioning for Economy or Premium Economy deals the journey to AUS is already long enough without adding more stopovers and nights in hotels especially if you haven't got the luxury of a flat bed. The QR deals ex ARN however I might be tempted.

It's a nice Y experience actually so good choice in my view. I actually really like their 333, most have new cabins and it is really nice not to have to share your row with anyone bar the two of you. One thing though is that it is worth checking your fare basis as some buckets do not earn anything (I think LVS are the lowest earning buckets, but O bucket doesn't earn anything).
