Where have all the A380's gone?
Although SEA is our home airport, we will sometimes travel to SFO or YVR to fly to or from LHR on the A380 in Club World. I am getting ready to book a trip next March and have noticed that both flights will use a 747. That is OK; I like 747s, but just wonder where they send the A380s that time of year.

YVR is only served by the A380 during the peak tourist season from May to September.
In North America the A380 serves LAX, SFO, ORD and BOS all year round. In the winter months you'll also see A380 on MIA and IAD.
Edit: SFO is served by A380 only three days a week in March, so changing your dates might enable you to fly it.

For the Northern Winter JNB is double daily A380, which obviously requires a few aircraft. In the summer it is one 380 and one 747, plus the new 787 service. The YVR 747/380 switch is not a black and white winter/summer timetable change, more supply and demand with local tourist trends.

Some A380s are generally around in the middle of the day for a bit at LHR. If you look at the route patterns using flightradar, the A380 operation is very well organised and timed.

As has been said if you look at the timetable a number of BA A380's arrive in to LHR by 7am and then looking at the departures there are the middle of the day ones to the USA but then again you get the departures to the Far East and South Africa meaning you will get some sitting all day at LHR.
