Is the race back on with Virgin

I read in the press at the weekend that Virgin cabins are being upgraded and are getting forward facing club seats not too dissimilar to the new BA club suite

I used to be a huge Virgin fan but think have only flown them twice in the last 10 years , the main off-putting factor being the coffin style suites facing away from the window (and the hiya mate slightky flakey crew)

Virgin has lost money for a long time whilst BA has made profit

Could this new investment put Virgin back to being competitive again; they have also gained flybe feeder flights

Who remembers the dirty tricks...

I believe this is the thread you are looking for: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/virgin-atlantic-airways-flying-club/1961389-new-a350-seat-2.html

You could have at least tried to find a BA angle, if you will insist on putting it on the BAEC board...!

virgin certainly hasn’t lost money ‘for a long time’.

and weren’t the ‘dirty tricks’ started by BA?

BA and Virgin are very different airlines with very different business models. BA's main competitors are AFKLM and Lufthansa Group.

Then who is Virgin competing against?
i agree on seat! Old style coffin (I think SQ went away from it almost ten years ago). But have to say F&B at oar with new BA and better than the old CW offering

Virgin made their first loss in 4 years in the year ended 31/12/2017 due to the 787 issues.

Are Virgin not soon to be very linked to the AFKLM and with the addition of Flybe I would suggest while still very different to BA in many ways they will be more on the radar of BA than they have been for quite a few years. What's most interesting is Virgin are putting their new seat on the flagship route and the one BA are not for quite some time!

That said until Virgin commit to the new seat being put on more aircraft it won't be a full on competition like in the past!

Iím not a fan of the current VS seat, otherwise with the club house and in the main better business class lounges at our stations too, with the new seat VS would be a no brainer for me in business class with everything else equal.

They are clearly a thorn in BAís side. BA has a superior route network and I hesitate to book with flybe at the moment.

Itís good to see VS responding though to the competition.

That hasn't been my experience on Virgin. Comparing VS and MF crew, can we honestly say there is a vast difference?! If anything the latter is the more made-up.
