Have to disagree. Airside it’s quite nice, landside however, is dated and depressing. I rate T5 definitely higher than TBIT.

T5 is the minimum I would expect from a busy airport.
T2 is far far nicer. For a start.

I take these as a rouge guide, more indicative.
Of the airports I've been to in this top 10 list I wouldn't disagree that they deserve to be there. It's just the order is more subjective.

Changi I'm sure would be No1 if they got rid of the awful carpet

Changi should start by getting rid of gate based security checks, then the carpets. Then it might make my top 10 of airports.

I guess T4 might actually make the cut based on those criteria, but I have not flown from Changi T4 yet so time will need to tell.

Best get your walking shoes on for arriving at Changi T4 if arriving on a widebody. That aside T4 is a very good experience, IMO.

The dour and draggy carpets at Changi really degrade the experience and gate based security means lots of time wasted having to be ready for a possible long wait.

T5 is great.

Only for deep pockets

Apart from Fortnum & Mason and Harry Potter stores I think I prefer the shops arrangement at T3.

I guess people have different requirements - most seem to want shops, lounges and all sorts of facilities.
To me, as one who spends far too much of life in airports, the idea is to get on and off the aircraft with minimum time, distance and hassle. A gate in the fence with a car waiting on the outside would be my idea of terminal heaven! Maybe add a bus shelter, a portaloo and a cool box for delays...

Still not great of you need to connect though (especially domestic).

yes - I should have been clearer about T2 at MUC. It’s the best big terminal at a European airport for sure.

As a non EU national, even with Fast Track, the wait can be excruciatingly long. I've not timed, but I'd say 90-120 minutes.

T5 is great.
T5 is terrible in my opinion. No one ever seems to clean the place. The annoying tendency to only announce the short haul gates very shortly before boarding, I find the security staff to be incredibly rude (First Wing excluded), the waiting time for first bag on belt is often long, and the chaos that seems to regularly happen at connections. It is my least favourite terminal in Heathrow, T2 being the winner, and certainly not on my top 10 list at all.
