First problems

Underwhelmed with first to YVR yesterday. The lamp on the side of the chair wouldn’t switch off, so was pretty hard to get any sleep. The CSD said they couldn’t do anything about it, other than switch seats with someone on staff travel (not ideal as closer to galley and do you really want to switch after 3.5 hours).

Also - have they started serving from the back of the cabin, or was it just this flight that row 1 got everything considerably later than row 5?

It's fairly normal in this circumstance (unfortunately!) to make shift cover the lamp - did they not do this?

Or even more usual to use the eye pad in the amenity kit to block out any light?

It’s very easy to switch off if you know how, I’m surprised that all crew don’t know this.

Took me a bit of fiddling with it, but agree with CIHY, easy when you know how.

There is a way to do this at the seat but a much easier way if you know how.

I rank this thread as having the absolutely least informative posts ever!
(Even if that was the point!)

Yes, was quickly resolved in 4K on BGYE the other week.... Was initially a bit embarrassing when I thought it was just me!
Funny when all the lights came on in cabin full blast!

Im sure one of the times actially pressing the ON /Dimmer-up lamp button a few times conversely switched it off.

On one flight when this happened and all fiddling with switches by CC and me failed, only succeeding in turning the window mood lights on and off instead of the lamp, the CC clambered under the seat and reset the electrics.

Apparently they are not really supposed to do that (said that she’d learned this solution from an engineer), but it did the trick and I was grateful. A couple of other seats in F had the same issue on that flight.

The point I was making is that all cabin crew should know about these resets, it is not for me to give technical details of how to do these as customers would not have access as these resets is not carried out at the seat.
