BA NEW CLUB SUITE, WILL I GET IT?

What with the arrival of BA's biggest change in business class for some decades, this thread is intended to ask the inevitable question that I am sure many will want to know the answer to, something along the lines of "I am travelling on XX Jan 2036 from Heathrow to Sydney, will I get the new business class seat?"

Please do ask if you are not sure if your flight will fly the seat or not, its safe to say the more info you provide the more accurate the answer will be.

Aircraft involved: A350-1000XWB (also known as A351 and A350-1000), B787-10 (also known as B781) and a limited number of B777-200ER (B772).

Planned flights with the new Club Suites (information as of 16 December 2019):

Do you think it's feasable that for each 77W refitted / delivered with Club Suite next year, it will replace an existing JFK 747 route? If this happens then we could see JFK going all Club Suite by the end of the year.

I know the 4 77W coming Q3 2020 will most likely be going directly to JFK. And by August 2020 all 77E G-VII that operate out of Heathrow will have club suite which are the same aircrafts that operate JFK route now. So by the end of next year. JFK being all club suite is extremely likely

Think this has been mentioned before but interesting a trip to Philadelphia of mine next year in business is scheduled as a 3 class 777.

Possible swap to A350 in the offing closer to the time?

Possibly, be on the lookout. All current A350 routes are being shown as 3 class 777 with 48J after 29th March 2020. Seeing as Philadelphia is usually served by a super hi j 747 then I would say it may probably be an A350 swap. By the time your flight comes BA will have about 6 A350s

Thanks. I guess they could say they're doing this in case they need the swap instead of the fact they definitely will swap the aircraft.

Having said that, I can't see BA running a 3 class 777 on the route when they're already serving routes like BKK/EZE which probably won't get the A350

So do you think we could be seeing an end to 747 JFK ops soon?

If so, that will be a great shame after all these years and annoying as I want to go to NYC in the next few years.

I know between now and the end of next year 3 super hi Js are going. One in November and the anoher two next year. So you may see one lingering in the JFK route, but even as you check now try and book a flight in June next year to jfk you’ll see that only 2 flights are operated by the 747 the first and the last. The remaining 6 are operated by 777s, so you may have one remaining by the end of the year by the the 77W comes in with probably 6/7 by the end of next year (including new arrivals)

25th Jan 2020 - the expected JFK-LHR at 18:50 (BA174) is showing as old club in ExpertFlyer. Is that likely to be right?

Was hoping my flight from HKG-LHR in May 2020 will get club suite, but reading thread I suppose both 77W and A380 will not be retrofitted yet. Oh well I guess I need to climb over someone to get to the isle.

Its the same in September 2020 the first and last flights are 747..the rest are 777 but are still showing Club World as we've booked to NYC in back.

Yes after 29th March 2020 seat maps haven’t been updated and A350s haven’t been included.

77W starts next year but is moving to super high j routes. A380 not really sure if or when it will get the club suites. I don’t think BA themselves are sure

It would be a great shame to lose the 747 from the JFK route (seeing it operating on other routes instead). The 747 is my favourite way to travel between JFK-LHR with minimal fuss - bed down on wheels up and sleep all the way until 20mins out. I have not yet tried the new Club Suite personally, so I am unsure of its credentials for maximising sleep on these very short overnight sectors. I do have some trepidation that it may or may not fit the bill (I hope it does!), when comparing to 64A/K on the 747 UD where you can be almost guaranteed a decent sleep (assisted by a decent sleeping tablet). I will be giving the new Club Suite a try on a day 777 day flight in December, but this is not representative of an overnight sector. Anyway, interesting times ahead especially for those who depend on getting sleep onboard to function on arrival.

Well seeing that Emirates themselves has started scrapping some of their whales, it's not surprising. I assume BA will take maybe 5-6 years to retrofit 777s and 787s, maybe you can see the writing slowly appearing on the wall for the 380s with a retirement after that... (I'm simply conjecturing here, I have no inside info).

I only had a 30 minute nap (helped by 3 hours in the CCR, probably equivalent to a sleeping pill) on the MAD trip, but I found it immensely more comfortable than the old CW seat. In my mind, on-par with my recollection of the F seat on the 747/777, and that was without bedding.
