Many airlines that did not buy the A380 / 747-8 replaced the 747-400 with 77W (Cathay Pacific for example, there are many others), so in a sense this is the lens through which this size of airframe should be seen. So, this is a purchase of a more capable, large aircraft that will lower fuel costs significantly. In terms of passenger experience, the A350 is a far superior aircaft to the 77W. The new CW will enhance this further for BA, I expect.
Airbus will increase the maximum weight of the A350 in the next few years, which will increase range, opening new opportunities should BA wish to increase the fleet. Boeing are rumoured to be doing the same to the 787; indeed that is thought to have been a part of the deal for Air New Zealand for their follow on order last week. These developments are opening new avenues for very long range flights, so there are intriguing opportunities ahead.
As an aside, it is interesting to note how quickly some competitors have built their A350 fleets. For example, construction of the 41st A350 for Singapore Airlines was completed this week, the 43rd for Qatar Airlines is active at Toulouse, and Cathay Pacific now have 35. Feedback from the operators has been very positive.

They must be imminent... they’ve spray-painted “350-1k” and “350-9” graffiti-like on the ramp over at the T5C remote stand. Looks hilariously slapdash next to the professional yellow and black markings.

I'm not so keen on them either. Seems more like someone's Photoshop fantasy than a good idea. Maybe because the 744 winglets never had a design on them, or maybe it's the narrower dimensions compared to tails, it just seems odd to me for the Chatham Historic Dockyard design to be on the 738/350 wingtips.
A logo, like EI have on the 330, okay. A mini tail design? My OCD takes notice…
Maybe I just don't like change…

With the rise in smartphones with great cameras over the last 10 years+, putting a icon/logo
on the winglet was clearly a nice marketing gimmick for any of those pax taking a photo out of their window seat. Once it’s on Instagram or another social media post, it can be recognised. Shared, interest created etc etc and the social media/marketing world continues to grind.
I quite like the coloured winglets regardless of above. Albeit if they were a continuation of wing colour then all the same.
Anyhow, she looks great. The delivery must be imminent
