The way I'm reading this, the crew were absolutely complicit.

Shameful.

If your account of the story is fact I see no reason for not outing this so called celebrity.

If I were the OP's father, I'd have held my ground as well (or moved if I felt it best for all of us... I've done that plenty of times even for seats that are not as good, but never because I felt I had to).
But I can't help but think of my own parents in a situation like this. How cabin crew handles this kind of situation makes all the difference between if they feel safe and comfortable in their assigned seat, or if they feel they are being "told" to move by someone in authority whom they are not prepared to fight.

Sounds like crew preferred to take advantage of an elderly amenable and compliant gentleman, rather than risk the wrath of this "celeb".

At least that's the way I read the original post.

"Sir, you are in 5E, please return to you seat" I mean how hard is that to say, depends on the reputation of the celeb I suppose, I assume crew knew him and probably his reputation for causing a fuss. Easiest way to de-escalate was selected.

1. Your father should simply have resisted. I expect most of us would have. He’s probably too polite and well-mannered though.

+1

No doubt most of us gladly would have told the jerk to bugger off.

That is exactly what the cabin crew said to the celebrity.
”He then called a cabin crew member to "kindly escort" my dad to 5E. The cabin crew lady first checked the boarding passes and said that his seat was 5E, what's he doing here”.

Apart from the "Sir, please return to you seat" bit it appears.

They were asking the celebrity to return to their seat which was 5E.

So apparently the celebrity refused a crew member instruction, because none of us would be having this conversation if he had simply followed that instruction (if given) and gone back there!

Maybe the question here is whether the crew member dealt appropriately with a passenger who refused to follow crew member instruction. The guy who (apparently) started the whole thing refused, and the target (elderly man in 1A) may have acquiesced out of concern of what should happen if he didn't follow crew member instruction.

Hope we find out who the so called celebrity is “ this morning” or perhaps “this week”

I was once moved once on a flight as a famous footballer and his family required seats. Only a CE flight and not too fussed but it was done in a matter of fact way at the gate with no explanation or apology despite being Gold at the time.

If the celebrity is not outed, the story is possibly a fiction.

So I’m only guessing now but I think after the crewmember had this conversation they moved away to carry out other duties fully expecting that the situation resolved. As I said there is no room around 1A for the crewmember and the celebrity to both stand, I believe that after a further conversation the crewmember was called back to assist in the move after the OPs father had agreed to move, once again I’m only guessing.

The plane will have a record of who flew that day. The OP's father (and family) could only be in legal jeopardy if they were making up a story. If it's documented that X person flew that day and encouraged the crew to move a ticketed passenger - and an elderly passenger at that - just to have a favorite seat...well, I think that the ticketed passenger should have his say.

Disgraceful behaviour from the so-called celebrity. If the account is accurate, there is no reason not to reveal this toad's identity. I have my suspicions, but will not speculate.

Shameful.
OP needs to decide on whether or not to publicise this, with a name.
