Adding lap child to Avios bookings on AA domestics
Mrs GM and I need to be in Florida for a family Christmas, but we also found out recently that - touch wood - we’ll have a little one in tow by then...
I’ve managed to use a 241 that gets close enough for now (LHR-BNA/MIA-LHR) in CW, but I also need to book one AA domestic.
Are the conditions the same on adding a lap child to Avois bookings on AA metal as it would be for BA (10% of Avios and surcharges, I believe)? I.e., as and when the nipper arrives, can I call BA to add him/her in the way that I can on my 241?
I’m still hoping that something comes up for Florida on the outbound, but dates are narrow, and hen’s teeth and all that for premium cabins to FL at Christmas.

Can’t remember 100% on this, but when we travelled on AA domestic in 2017 with our infant, I don’t think she was showing on the AA sectors and had to be added at the airport, even though she was on theNA LH flights and had a separate e-ticket.
Good luck with everything. Two pieces of advice when flying with an infant. Calpol and alcohol.

A very similar question was asked a few days ago for an AA award on QF/AA.

Just stumbled on this old thread. Two days after I started it we found out we were having triplets so all bets were off. We were hunkered down in London that Christmas! Adding covid into the mix, our first trip as a family wasn't until nearly 2 years after this planned trip.

For purely US domestic redemptions, where there's doesn't need to be a charge for the INF(s), it's best to book just the adults with BA, then call AA or AS to let them know you have infant(s) on lap. They can then add the info on their side, and it won't get in the way on BA's side, where the system might try and charge 10% of the Avios unnecessarily.
Of course, if laps are outnumbered by infants, then bonus infants need their own seat, and would need to be booked as an INS: infant occupying seat, which would go back through BA if using Avios, or in a separate cash booking if needed.
*Mrs. JAXBA & I I have just the one just a few months older than yours, and we feel outnumbered... 3x3? Yikes! Remember, the days are long, but the years are short…

Since this has floated back up to the top with your update (triplets!*), but your 2019 question went unanswered, might as well answer in case it comes up in search later:

Would you not need a third adult if travelling with three infants? I mean for your own sanity you'd want it, but to comply with the rules? We had a trip to NCE booked for when they were 9 months old but that got nixed sue to covid. My parents were going to come along too so that adults outnumbered kids!
