T5 fasttrack for silver companion

Hi, my friend & I have a trip in Eurotraveller tomorrow starting in Amsterdam and connecting to Innsbruck at LHR T5. I'm silver and my friend has no status. I just printed boarding passes for LHR-INN and I have fasttrack but my friend doesn't. I think previously, with similar statuses, we've both had fasttrack when our journey commenced at LHR.

Will we both be able to go through fasttrack at T5 connections even though his boarding pass indicates otherwise? Does fasttrack at T5 connections usually make a difference (about 8 - 8:30am Saturday)?

There's no real urgency (2 hours between flights) but we like to make the most of the lounge :-)

That’s fine, you can use fast track together. You can either go via connections fast track (far right of connections) or exit landside and up to go through security (north fast track is usually quieter).

Just to clarify - will the companion's own boarding pass work in the machines, or do you have to ask one of the staff to let you through? I've always asked when I've got a companion, but it just occurred to me that it might work automatically!

i think (?) you may have to ask the HAL staff member. I don’t think the non fast track bp works for the automatic gates.

If you are both on the same booking, you can both use Fast Track. Go to the attendant, have your friend go in first, and you explain the situation, it should be no problem. Did this exact thing in the exact same situation just a few weeks ago myself. The automatic gates probably won't work.

If the companion's boarding pass isn't automatically flagged for FastTrack via the barcode and it requires manual intervention then the ticket being on the same booking seems pretty irrelevant. The attendant has no way of knowing that it is.

I never understand these complaints about Fast track at T5

I have never found a problem with the North Fast Track

I seldom use South Fast Track, but since the first wing opened I have found that even the South Fast track has improved.

Maybe I am just lucky

Incorrect.

As Silver you can bring one guest through, so long as they're travelling on a BA flight (it doesn't even have to be the same flight AFAIK).
