True. CX got connections to all over (south/east) Asia or even Australia for its London route, whereas BA is a bit of a detour in EU-Asia traffic. What’s more, BA constantly charges a lot for its premium cabins ex-HKG, almost never below Ł3000 round trip to EU for J, and Ł6000 for F. I suppose CX is charging a bit more, but there are just too many alternatives eg QR at Ł2000 or below.

No, they haven't flown yet. Not yet. I am pretty sure they will able fly on the new aircraft.
Eh, not too bad at all. I think they have to be reduced J class, but 65 seats is too much. They have to be reduced the number of seats. Economy class need more capacity. They have more than 230 Y class, and also premium economy will reduced 30 seats, not 46 seats.

I wonder if HKG has been affected by the decision (and awful implementation) to make redundant the HKG based cabin crew last year when generated a lot of bad publicity and ill feeling towards BA in HKG rather than the 'over' capacity of other airlines.

Or maybe Hong Kong isn't as important a business pax destination as it used to be?

It depends on how long the overcapacity has been seen for. I've been hearing about the struggles in Y for over 5 years now. It could be as likely that the decision to close the HKG crew base was a consequence, not a cause.
