Three new 77Ws for BA

Three new 77Ws for BA

Two of these arriving this year and one next year, as we all know.

Is there any word on the configuration of these yet?

Will they have F cabins?

Will the F cabins have 8 "new" seats like the 789s? Or more new F seats?

Will the J cabins feature the new Club World seat?

Will the Y cabins be 10 abreast?

I had read somewhere that once these are delivered, the other 77Ws will be refitted to the same configuration, starting 2020. Is that true?

New J cabins yes and I believe a refreshed F more in line with current 787-9 seat. The rest of the 77W fleet I believe are first in line for J refurb to new seats.

The differences compared to the 77W’s currently in service are expected to be:

First - Refreshed first with seat similar to that on the 787-9’s. Number of seats highly likely to be reduced from the current 14 to just 8, although this is yet to be confirmed.

Club World - Will be fitted with the same seat as the A350’s.

World Traveller Plus - Seat will be the same design as that fitted on the LGW 3 class 777’s, with number of seats possibly being increased from 44 to 52.

World Traveller - 10 across configuration. Seat will be the same as recently fitted on the 3 class 777’s ex LGW.

Exact configuration yet to be confirmed.

Without doubt, although not publicly stated. BA will not want a small sub-fleet of three 77Ws, that’s one of the reasons for retiring the three remaining 777-200s, it leads to a reduction in fleet flexibility. Additionally, I think that there is a strong likelihood of the 77W replacing the super Hi-J 744s through this refurbishment. For example, according to the master delivery and retirement thread, 3 of the 744 retirements before the end of 2020 are super Hi-Js. With regards to the F cabin, a reduction of one row down to 10 seats, would be my guess.

This is one from what I can make out for a booking I have flying Gatwick to Vegas in December.
Its a new layout according to Basource
No First just Club , WTP and two economy sections.
Pics from Expert Flyer.
YMMV of course..

That's the current 3 class Gatwick (777-200) layout. Been flying for a while.

This is well known and heavily discussed London Gatwick based B777-200ER, and B77W is B777-300ER. Two very different animal.

I’m assuming in this scenario there would a small Club cabin forward of Door 2 but behind First?

First could also lose its own dedicated washrooms?

Meanwhile, life in economy for anyone not smaller than average will continue to be miserable. Another aircraft to try to avoid when possible when under a Y-only travel policy.

There are no details of a reduced F cabin on the B777-200 so there is no way of knowing if there will be a mini cabin behind First, the toilets are at the front so wont disappear.

There is always the option of installing a toilet unit at the very front. If the F cabin is smaller the galley can be shrunk.
