La Guardia shutdown

Just picked this up from BBC News and twitter

No flights landing at New York's LaGuardia airport due to air traffic control staffing issues, a result of the US government shut down.

Fortunately not a BA destination

I'm flying to JFK on Sunday, and this is worrying me. I've been tracking this thread: TSA slowdown / sickout but this isn't about TSA, it's due to the ATC in the NY area....

I also see this thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/prac...-aircraft.html - that might be the better place to discuss this.

Nope. It is LGA. It is not NYC, e.g. the other area airports. Best to rely on original source rather than media reporting, BBC reporting is inaccurate. Real-time chart at link reflects average delay inbound of 1:01. That is not good, but it is hardly "no flights landing."

BBC report is accurate - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-47006907 and only mentions LGA as being affected.

Not that this has anything to do with the BA board

But if the situation continues it won't be long before JFK and many other airports are affected.

And how much longer before the shutdown starts impacting TSA and more importantly CBP?

If the issue is ATC in the NY area/northeast corridor, if it continues it definitely could affect BA with multiple daily flights to JFK, EWR, and PHL, even if right now LGA is getting the worst of it.

JFK had their issues much earlier on, as this affected their morning departure push. Long taxi times (75-90 mins) to take off for southbound departures. I believe everyone takes "ground stop" to mean "no planes landing" which is very much not the case.

I don't agree, I've been on several flights with BA codes leaving LGA, back when I flew BA more often. Was treated very well by AA check in staff.
