Hybrid with BA Flydrive

I'm looking to do a flydrive with BA in the US (LAX), and I would like to make sure I get a hybrid car. Is there a way of making sure I get one, with the booking?

TY

Yep they do fullsize Hybrid as a category ( Toyota Prius or similar ) from some locations - certainly have them in Portland, OR but don’t know about elsewhere. Seem to be about 50% more than a standard fullsize...

Prob best to call them and don’t forget they don’t guarantee a particular vehicle but with this category i would imagine you get what you book.

I figured the best way was to phone BA Holidays, so I did. They have said that Avis and Budget no longer do hybrids. I did think that was strange?

I think the issue generally is that they will not have enough hybrids to guarantee you would get one, so perhaps they have given up on them? You'd be much better off with a nice big V8 anyway if you are cruising on the freeways.

i would ring Avis themselves - just did a test booking using their US site for Portland and you can hire a Prius there for sure. Their UK Twitter team is also very good / helpful.

I drive an EV at home, but renting in the US is always an SUV ... the bigger the better, price permitting!

If they want reduced emissions, pay the capital cost premium for a hybrid/EV

I have a Honda Insight here in the UK, which I LOVE! And when I go to the US, I like to rent a Tahoe or similar, because they are comfortable for long distance driving, and I often do long distance driving there in the US, which is why I want a hybrid. I want a Tahoe like car, but that can give me good mileage.

Our gas prices here in the US allows you to drive a bigger vehicle than at home at the same gas price total ;-)
