I’ve been on the lookout for the retro jets as they pass my location at approx 3000ft on final approach.
I had a ‘moment’ today on a bus going to Clapham Junction I spotted the Landor 747 saying to MrD ‘look - the Landor livery !’ - apparently I was the only one excited by this fact on the entire bus.

In which case, the assertion somewhere above that the man on the Clapham omnibus would not know or care about an aircraft's livery must be correct! You are the exception to the rule... (and I assume you were the woman on the Clapham omnibus, anyway)

Which of these BA aircraft should the Negus livery be painted on?

What's your opinion about the Negus retro livery to be painted on one aircraft in BA's current fleet (excluding new arrivals) for its centenary celebrations? Should the old Negus livery be painted for the BA centenary celebrations on...
  1. ...a Boeing 747?
  2. ...an Airbus A380?
  3. ...a Boeing 777-200ER?
This comes as a result of a BA Boeing 747 having been painted in the old BA Landor livery, and as a 15-year-old girl, I've heard that rumors are speculating about their beliefs that the next BA plane to be repainted in a retro livery for BA's centenary celebrations will be repainted in the Negus livery.

The Negus is going on G-CIVB a Boeing 747. It is in Dublin as we speak getting painted.

I do hope you are right, if it couldn’t be on the Tristar it HAD to be on the B747.

I’m glad G-CIVB is being repainted. It has need looking very sad and dirty of late. I have to admit that while I think the BOAC livery is my favourite, the Landor one does look spectacular!

Well I was quite happy at the thought of flying in the Landor livery plane, the same look as the first time I flew on ba as a kid.

However, the nostalgic feeling cannot make up for the 3h40 delay on arrival due to extended engineering checks (and perfectly timed not to owe us compensation: the worst of both worlds...)

Of my last four mid-J 747s, two had no inseat power, and two had delays of 1h15 and 3h40 due to engineering/tech issues.

It suddenly occurred to me that the lovely retro liveries which I was looking forward to have an air of those 60 year old who think that they will look cool if they dress like 16 year old’s... it is usually a little pathetic.

Forgive my ignorance- is the Negus livery the one from the 1970s with airways all in lower case ?
That paint job was the first BA livery I flew on, and my first long haul. As long as they don’t retro fit the drop down screens and stethoscope headphones I would be very happy to see that one - hopefully not on the ‘Clapham Ominbus’

...after one of BA's planes has been repainted in the Negus retro livery, do you think that there will be a British Airways Boeing 777-200ER repainted in the old BEA peony/three-crown livery? Here's proof that such a BEA livery existed: look for the section that has images of a livery with at least one white crown in this link.

Similar to the case with G-EUPJ when it was painted in an old BEA livery, the wings will need to be a predominantly-gray color if a BA B777-200ER ever gets repainted in another old BEA livery,

I think that all of the stuff I have seen so far suggests that there will be four retro-liveried aircraft. And they are all now accounted for: the BEA 319 on short-haul, and the BOAC, Negus and Landor 747s on long-haul.

While it would be fun to see more aircraft repainted, only four were announced, and we know what those are.

If any more were to be done, I think we would be unlikely to see a longhaul/widebody aircraft in BEA colours.
