I agree. On both counts.

You didn't even need to be stuck in the smoking section. I once made the mistake of buying a cheapie ticket from Eupo Air. They got the block of seats immediately ahead of the smoking section. Even when I managed to get two rows ahead of the smoking section, it reminded me of the old adage about swimming pools.

Oh yes I remember sometimes the smoking section would go further forward in the centre seat sections so if you were at the rear of the non smoking section on the window sides it was brutal. I remember agreeing to sit in the smoking section on a YYZ-LHR flight in 1988 so my girlfriend could have a couple of cigarettes and having the woman beside her just light one cigarette after another have one puff on them and then let them smoke into our faces until they got down to the filter. Even she agreed we'd sit in the non smoking section on the way back after that

Back on the liveries it will be nice to see a 744 in the Landor livery. BA really was on the upswing during that period

On Qantas 747s between LAX and BNE/SYD in the '80's, I remember the smoking section was the left side of the cabin.

Eupo Air! I remember them. In fact my last ride on a 707 was with them; when they leased a British Airways 707; for the LHR-HKG sector. (With a BAH stop)

Do we know about the schedule ahead?
Side question: is this something public, or would it have to rely on BA insiders?

You mean beyond what's in the wikipost? The information that has gone in there has, as often as not, changed thereafter. I'm not sure I'd place any reliance on any information that's more than a couple of days ahead. After all, joking aside, from an operational point of view there is probably nothing about this aircraft that's different from any other 86J aircraft, so late subs are probably liable to take place in the usual random and unpredictable fashion.

Thanks. I was merely hoping that it would show up on my trip next week. But as others have pointed out, if you're in it, you can't see it.

I am hoping for a "late sub" on Thursday- I'm off to PHL, not LAX!

You can follow @baretrojets on twitter. That's an official BA account that is publishing the schedule to let the public know where the jets are flying.

That's linked to from the wikipost, too.

But on at least one occasion, I have noticed that our wikipost has been more quickly updated with a change than that Twitter account.

is the account actually run by BA? I thought that the BA pilot social media gang were behind it.
