Not matter what we call the forms you will have still have people that look confused.
Take flights to the US when we used to give out custom forms, even though it was very clear from the announcement that Americans who were not members of the Global Entry Program needed them I would walk through the cabin looking at a sea of faces who looked like I had asked them the hardest question in the world.

The announcement does give you a clue though even if you don’t recognise the term ‘landing card’ itself....from memory it goes something like
”We will shortly distribute landing cards for the United Kingdom. If you final destination is the UK or Republic of Ireland today and you do not hold a European Union passport, you will need to complete a landing card. If you’re in direct transit to another international flight today then there is no need to complete one. If you are unsure about whether you need to complete any documentation, please ask one of your cabin crew.”

You might be overworrying about me! But as someone who has spent lots of time training and working with non-native speakers I am acutely aware of the confusion non-standard language can bring. The thread was inspired by a recent flight where 2 different passengers in ear shot were confused by the term.
