I was once escorted from C/I to the lounge in Dubai. I was flying Business class and it seems I always manage to renew Gold with only few TPs margin. Anyhow, the check in was very empty ( I was slightly early) and they had nothing else to do than escort me. I just followed my hostess and did not pay any attention to the route. In an instance I was in the lounge only to notice I had left my back-bag in the security. I didn’t know the way back there. After a call by a lovely lounge attendant I found they the C/I was to busy to help me. I was devasted to having lost my rather cheap camera but with invaluable photos. Only a few minutes before proceding to the gate I was informed that my bag haf been found and it would be brought to the gate. I picked up the bag and noticed a friendly face was observing me. It was the angel who had brought my bag. Unfortunately, she could not accept tax-free chocolate from me. So no more extra service for me. I lose control unexpectedly.

I must be one of those 'other Golds' the OP mentions. My experience was :
No assistance provided on a late arriving domestic flight to make our connection.
BA Customer service desk at T5 security point left un-staffed for over an hour.
Had to go land side and get re-booked.
So much for this: BRITISH AIRWAYS ENHANCES ITS SERVICE FOR CONNECTING CUSTOMERS
As expected, a complaint about the poor service was met with an apology and the reminder that BA doesn't value my custom.

For a DOM-INT within T5 connection these are usually very easy, so just a quick bp check and then straight up to the airside departures area - no security. I did one on Friday and was in the lounge less than 5 minutes after getting off the plane.

It sounds as if you were too late anyway as your bp didn't work at the bp check so you were pointed to the BA service desks to the left hand side of the bp check? If you don't go past that bp check by 35 minutes before the flight you will fail conformance which means you are offloaded from your onward flight automatically and your existing bp will not work anymore.

Had there been anyone at the service desk, some common sense may have prevailed.

DOM-INT should be quick and easy, I've done it many times before so know the drill. We were scanned at security 40 minutes before the connecting flight, and refused entry to the terminal. Following a complaint to BA I've been told that the security check is controlled by LHR and is set at 60 minutes.
In any case I am surprised that BA customer service point to the left was unmanned, it usually is to deal with issues like this. It sounds like rather than a need for escorting and SS, you just needed a normal BA agent at that customer service point to clear the issue in FLY. Did you really stand there waiting for an hour btw?

@KARFA where is the 35 minute conformance check detailed? I'd like to point BA's customer relations team to that information.
I remained airside-ish trying to get the situation resolved as I could also see our connecting flight as delayed. Between random BA staff assuring us that someone would be there shortly, calling BA for rebooking options, commiserating with other pax in the same situation, the time went quite quickly.

flying JFK-LAX today in biz (not F) as GGL....i was given an AA cadillac escalade transfer from the flagship lounge to my gate at JFK.
i was asked if i wanted it (honestly, would have been happy to walk the15mins) but immediately responded "oh sure--you all at AA take better care of us BA "premiums" (i'm obvs just GGL) better than BA does back home in London!"
AA has certainly shown how much they care about BA 'premiums' in the US in the last 1.5 years on my US domestic flights. Very nice of them and another sign how far AA has overtaken BA in general. I was 10 years a mix of AA emerald or CK and never been treated as well as I have been the last 1.5 years flying within the US as a BA GGL. Well done AA!

There isn't a Concorde Team presence in LGW however they can make arrangements for LGW using LGW agents to do meet 'n greet.
